i had recently got a pup dobe(M) which is just one month old, I know that it should be of minimum 2 month's old before seperating from his mother but in my case it was necessory. What should i feed him and at what interval. Right now i am feeding him buffalo milk 50%+ water 50%+ half teaspoon of cerelac at one time. Pet doc's in my area says it's ok. pup is having loose motion i.e. water like pooty. what should i provide him for his best health. i don't want my dog to have bent leg's so what should be done to avoid that.

I'm trying to find a good dog for an apartment. I've visited a lot of web sites that list great dog choices for an apartment, but they are all small dogs. I really don't like small dogs. It will be stuck in a smallish apartment for most of the day, so I need to be able to trust it to be by itself, but I'll be home enough to exercise it regularly. I am also looking for a pooch that will offer some protection in the big city, something with a hearty bark would be nice. So, I am wondering what dogs do you apartment dwellers have and how well are they working out for you?

I don't want to drive them long distances when I know it will be miserable for them, but they get sick within 5 miles. Is this a lifelong thing and it depends on the dog? Or is there something I can do to get them over it? I know about benadryl already, but giving them a benadryl is a last resort type of thing that doesn't always work and I prefer not to use drugs. Putting them in the bed of the truck is not an option either. That's one reason you see dog bodies on the highway. I see people driving around with their dogs going with them all over town. How do they manage this without having to clean dog barf out of the truck every time for weeks in a row?
I am hoping someone has a realistic solution.
thanks.

My dog is adopted and just the sweetest thing. We've had her since she was 3 months old and she's 4 now. She's just scared of everything but I have to say the thing that cracks me up the most is her with her water bowl.... I got her the Petmate Le Bistro that hold about 2 gallons of water. She's been having it for a while but she walks up to it slowly and stretches her head as far out as it will go to lick the water.....I finally realized it was because it scares her when the water bubbles up to refill the bowl....LOL so she will drink a little (stretching out) then she will jump back......then she will go again and jump back. It's so funny.

My dog is about 20 lbs (mix between a manchester terrier and a jack russell terrier). She is about a year old. I got her from the humane society, and have had her for almost two weeks now. She is just getting used to her name and a basic routine. She always play bites though.

When I tell her no, she doesn't listen and also thinks I'm playing.
When I spank her, she thinks I'm playing.
When I hold her snout, she thinks I'm playing.
She actually get more excited by these things sometimes.
How can I get the point across that I am serious
about this? Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Also, she is very scared of loud noises such as a vacuum or even a hair dryer, or even a rolling chair on the floor. Could I use this to my advantage?

It breaks my heart to hear people say that dogs dont belong inside with the rest of the family... Dogs are pack animals, they do NOT ever live alone, sleep alone, eat alone, play alone etc unless they are forced to. They thrive on social interaction daily 24/7... not just when its conveinient to us humans. When will people realize that we owe dogs so much more than a life in a kennel or cage, or on the end of a chain away from the people they love unconditionally, and long to be with every second of every day. The saddest part is dogs dont live as long as we humans do so we should cherish what little time they have on this earth and we should have them by our sides as much as we can.. of course we all have to work, and leave home occasionally but what is the point of leaving your dog out of your life when you are home??
