Some dogs start lactating after they go into heat. Sometimes they also can have false pregnancies. It is odd but not uncommon. It is pretty common in labs. I am in a Guide Dog Raising group and it has happened among our dogs. I don't know about dachunds so I would check the vet. Never know!!!

They can have false pregnancies, as their hormones go through very similar changes when they aren't bred as they do when they get pregnant. That's why you can't pregnancy test dogs like you can people. It's not normal, but it happens fairly often. One more reason to spay-especially now that she's older and at risk for pyometra (nasty, potentially fatal uterine infection)

Yes, this is very normal. It is called a false pregnancy. Your female can actually gain weight and start making a "nest" out of towels or sweaters and gather stuffed animals in it. She will try to nurse them and may growl if you try to take them. It will pass.
Unfortunatley, if there is any possibility that she may have come into contact with any male dog and she is intact, she may in fact be pregnant. We had one of our girls deliver her puppy out on her lead because we thought it was a false pregnancy.

She is probably having a false pregnancy, which is fairly common. I would get her spayed soon, before she starts having trouble with uterine infections (call pyometra, which is very common in older un-spayed females that can be deadly and is very expensive to cure).

False pregnancies are common in intact females. She should have been spayed a long time ago. Have it done now.

Yes you need to have her seen by a vet, it could be a pyometra (infected uterus) which can be deadly if not treated quickly.
