Dogs - February 2007

I do. I have a couple puppies and there is a place called Mitchel's Veterinary supply and they sale the shot kits for puppies. They cost $8.00 for each kit. The first time I had a friend do it, because I was to chicken to do it myself. With their second set, I did it myself and it was a piece of cake. Can anyone tell me if there is any difference of giving the shot yourself vs. the vet doing it, besides the cost difference?

My dog just got into a fight at the dog park. She's not a fighter. Now she has a big gash on her neck. It looks like a clean cut, not ragged, and no debris inside (you can see in). It also doesn't seem to be bothering her at all, she's not acting like she's in pain. I don't think it needs to be stitched up-it stopped bleeding really quickly, there was barely any blood on her fur, and it seems like it's not in danger of the skin tearing more or anything. I need to clean the cut though-can I use hydrogen peroxide? Is it safe for dogs? Can I put bacitracin on it after it's clean? I've never had a dog get in a fight, I'm not familiar with doggie first aid like that. Thanks.

Ok - dogs are my specialty - not kids, I train dogs - my 2 large dogs are beautifully behaved and would never hurt my adorable baby - but baby thinks this means he can use the dogs as his personal, seat, pillow, stair, hand rail, teething tool etc..etc...I dont want to smack my baby - but I am not sure how to make it VERY clear to him to not hurt the dogs. I have moved him away, said no, he just keeps doing it! MY poor dogs are besides themselves!!

My dog doesnt look like shes feeling well, shes pooing all over the house and its diarrhea! She can usually hold it in okay, but shes doing her business ALL OVER! I'm not sure whats wrong with her and I'm really worried. Does anyone know whats wrong? I didnt see her digest anything and she eats innova, no changes in her diet.

Just trying to get some feed back before I call the vet.

this is probably a stupid question lol but on a rugrats episode, parts of it were taken from spike's (their dog) point of view. when the mom said something like 'spike youre a bad dog' he heard it kinda disorted and gibberish like "woh wop woh woh"

is that really the way they hear? or is it exactly the way we hear it?

Today my dad and I went to the city Humane society and we looked at a couple small dogs, And i fell in love with two, one was extremely cute and one was calm,quiet,and cute all together, so we got the calm one. I constant keep waking up in the morning to find that a dog has fouled on my drive. I am getting annoyed with this and fed up with cleaning it up. I am not able to put a fence up on my drive because my car sticks out slightly. What can i do to stop this happening? I heard there is a powder you can use to deter the dogs. Has anyone got any suggestions?
