I have two female 4 month old husky pups..its been about a week since their last puppy shot..I have to leave them in a kennel outside when I come to my future sister in laws house to watch her baby 5 days a week..I know they must get bored with not enough room to run. Well she has a big fenced in backyard and has already told me it would be alright to bring the pups over..I was wondering if enough time has passed since their shots that I am able to take them places now?

I noticed my puppy is sometimes afraid to come up to people, including myself and also my boyfriend (we live together and both take care of him). I don't know how to exactly explain his actions. In the monring when i let him out of the crate he stretches and walks right up to me very peaceful, but when he is doing his daily routines or just walking arond the house and i walk towards him or crouch down and say come, he looks nervous and either playfully runs away or sits and stares at me. I tried taking treats and placing them in front of me and directing him to "come" and he quickly comes and eats the treat. is this something I should just give time since hes only 3 motnhs? Also if you read my previous question about treats, i try showing him i have treats in my hand, but he looks ont he floor for it, hence the reason why i have been putting it on the phone for him to come. Please help i want my puppy to be comfortable with us and strangers!

I have a 12 week old miniature dachshund. I've been taking her outside every 3 or 4 hours so that she can use the bathroom outside. She did fine for the first couple of days and when I take her out now, she'll instantly start whining and start running towards my front door. If she's not running towards the door she is sitting on the ground staring at the door and whining. I've trying taking her to a different area to go potty but she still wont stop whining. I try to keep her outside with me as long as I can so that she will go potty but eventually I just have to let her back into the house where she'll end up peeing or pooping on my carpet if she didnt do so outside. Its very frustrating. What should I do? Oh, I've also tried giving her treats outside right after she does anything so that she can associate treats with outside so going outside doesnt seem so bad.

He can go about two hours during the day, if crated. He is only needing one walk during the night. We have had him about eight days. Are we making progress? Any hints on when he will get on more of a normal schedule?

She's 6 months, been scared stiff of other dogs out walking, until suddenly this week, she barks at them and chases them all of, german shepherds and boxers!! She sounds like she's gonna start fighting with every one that walks past. I am a bit worried, she's gonna come a cropper if I don't sort out her behaviour asap!

I notice when i give my puppy treats when we are doing a little in home training he is constantly looking down. If i hold the treat closer towards his noce or further away he can't grasp the idea that I am holding the treat. I tried moving it around in numerous directions, but he goes nuts looking over the floor to see where it went. Any suggestions?

What I mean is, as of now all you have to do to get a dog licence is pay $15, there is no training, no testing, and virtually no policing involved. Even if someone has abused and abandoned or created a vicious dog in the past they can still go and get a dog and a licence without any restrictions at all... This doesnt make sense to me, shouldnt we be regulating the priveledge to care for a dog that can be turned into a deadly weapon by unscrupulous people?? A motorvehicle is a deadly weapon in the wrong hands too, thats why we require people to have training in order to own and operate one, and we also have the ability to revoke the priveledge of driving if the people are dangerous or irresponsible... My question is why arent we doing the same with dogs? banning one breed out of hundreds of other large potentially deadly dogs(mutts, purebreds etc) does not keep other dogs out of the hands of irresponsible people who turn them into deadly weapons..

My neighbor across the street has a pit bull that is chained to his dog house 24/7. I live in Michigan and it is cold outside and the poor dog is always heard whining. I and 3 other neighbors have called animal control and nothing has been done. The dog is still out there neglected. I feel horrible and can barely look at it every day when I come home. I have a dog too, but she is part of my family! Why won't they rescue this dog?

I will be driving across the country (2400 miles) with my dog (65lb Lab mix) in a couple weeks. She likes to ride in the car but has only ever been on an hour or two trip before. I've heard it could be a good idea to get a mild sedative from the vet for a trip like this? Should I do that? And do you have any other advice?
THANKS !!

Everynight when i put my australian shepherd mix to bed he starts winning about 20 mins to an hour and ill go out to the living room where his cage is and let him out for a min and then put him back in and go back to my room. About another 20 mins to a hour he will start up again. The only way that he stops is if i let him come back to my room and let him sleep on my floor.

We have a 14 week old Boxer/Pomimo cross - he is very smart and seems to learn commands fairly easily. However, he seems to pick and choose his moments to obey. We are working on getting him to come when called, which works sometimes, but not all the time and especially not when we really need him to. We use treats, praise, games etc...but he still takes his time to size us up before making up his mind. Any help would be great!

We have a 3 yr old lab/pit mix. He is an overall really mellow dog, he has always been very laid back and low key. He also has bad back legs, possibly a torn ligiment in his back knee and/or hip displaysia. We both work 9-5 jobs and try to spend as much time as we can with him after work and on weekends, he is a spoiled big baby, yet he still seems upset or depressed. He mostly lays around and is often off in a back bedroom instead of out with us (by his own choice) While on our walks we always meet up with a black lab puppy and our dog seems to love him! He has a great time playing with other dogs. We are wondering if we should get another puppy for him to keep him company. Any suggestions?

I don't want it to back fire and make him depressed and think we don't love him as much, I am hoping this would make him happy to have a puppy to play with and teach things to.

What do you think?

I have a Pomeranian who kills his toys....literally. He grabs them by the neck and then lays on top of them. He bites right at the throat and pulses his jaws together like he is sucking the life right out of his stuffed toys. He also makes this soft wimpering noise and closes his eyes while he does it. What is he doing to his toys? Has anyone else seen their dog do this?
