I bort a Schnauzer a month ago, great dog. He came registered with United All breed. Does this mean anything? It looks like its is meant to help you find your dog in case he gets lost. Because they register his chip. But it is not AKC. Can anyone with a MUTT register?

So why things are like this I don't know. But here is what happened. I got a dog from the pound (a puppy actually). Before animal control will release the animal to you, they will fix it. So then after you adopt them you go pick them up from the vet after they have their surgery. Sounds simple enough.

Except when your young puppy refuses to pay any attention the fact she just had surgery yesterday & keeps trying to run around like a mad animal & jumping all over the place. Not to mention constantly trying to wrestle with my other dog. Phew! I've been keeping her in the kennel most of the time just to get her to relax a bit but even in there she's throwing herself against the walls. Should I take her to the vet & see if the will get some kind of animal relaxer pill. She seems very thrilled with her new environment but, I don't want her to hurt herself! Any ideas on how to get her to calm down?

He is 9 months, we've only had him for a month so still relatively new to the family :) My husband works a normal office job and I am gone 3 times a week for 9-5 type hours for graduate school, and when I get home on the days I'm out, our poor pup has really worked himself up into a frenzy. What will keep him occupied, or how can I reduce his anxiety when he's alone? (Yes he has access to a place to sleep, food, a place to go to the bathroom while we aren't home. It's just that he doesn't like being alone!)

I have a 10 month old lab/hound mix... not sure what type of hound, we rescued her from a shelter 6 months ago. Ever since we've gotten her, she's been in the crate at night and during the day when we're at work. We've just moved into a brand new home and for almost a month now, our puppy's been staying in our laundry room upstairs, without her crate, barracaded with a baby gate. Until recently we haven't had any issues. But twice in the past week, we've come home and found holes in the walls of the laundry room... with drywall all over her mouth and in her claws! We leave treats in her kong, at least three other chew toys, and we leave the radio on. We do excercise her when it's not raining outside, and even if it is, we still play fetch indoors. What are we supposed to do?

I have a 4 month old chihuahua, how in the heck do I house train it successfully? She is actually doing better. When she DOES go inside and I show it to her, she whines and cries and tries to get away from me, so she knows she did bad. How do I get her to go out all the time?

we have had this dog since she was 6 wks old (now 10 months) she is a nice dog ( a little hyper) but she is alot of fun. Problem is we cannot pick her up to hold her...she gets very upset and when we put her down she protests and barks at us!!!! EVERY time!! WE have had her checked at the vet and he said she is fine physically but she is a stubborn terrier. Should we just "hold" her until she submits or just leave her be and accept the fact that we have a dog that will always sit by us on the couch but "to hold her" -- forget it!!?? Thanks for any advice you have!

My roommates dog recently started urinating in his kennel and on the floor. Sometimes it is mass amounts, sometimes just a little. He even appears to be urinating in his sleep. At first we thought it may be a behavioral issue as I recently moved in with my dog, and the pack dynamic has changed, but it has been almost 4 months and the situation only appears to be worsening. He has taken the dog to the vet and there is no indication of an infection. If he is urinating in his sleep I don't see how it can be behavioral unless he is dreaming. He has tried feeding in the kennel to associate food with that area, and has even cut off access to water after a certain time of day. It still has not helped. I have researched dog incontinence, but he does seem to be able to hold it if he chooses. At this point I am at a loss of what could be causing the issue. He is a somewhat nervous dog, but I am certain there is no abuse. Breed is Border Collie 3 years old.

My mom and I have been wanting a dog since 2 months after the death of my one dog. We looked all over and wanted to save up. Asking a neighboring shelter helping lady she came up with this dog. He lived in Ohio, but we thought since it would be saving a life that it was worth it. While waiting (3 months actually) we found other dogs we'd rather have but said 'no, we said we'd take Bud.' and then one saturday morning he came. And was twice as big as he looked in the photo. And very stuborn and almost like he has ADD, he also tries to go after our cats since they had a bad meeting.

After all this, we still are trying to give him a chance, but we don't feel like he's 'our dog' what should we do? keep him and just keep giving him a chance? or find him a new home? would it be mean to send him off to another house after all this time?
