So why things are like this I don't know. But here is what happened. I got a dog from the pound (a puppy actually). Before animal control will release the animal to you, they will fix it. So then after you adopt them you go pick them up from the vet after they have their surgery. Sounds simple enough.

Except when your young puppy refuses to pay any attention the fact she just had surgery yesterday & keeps trying to run around like a mad animal & jumping all over the place. Not to mention constantly trying to wrestle with my other dog. Phew! I've been keeping her in the kennel most of the time just to get her to relax a bit but even in there she's throwing herself against the walls. Should I take her to the vet & see if the will get some kind of animal relaxer pill. She seems very thrilled with her new environment but, I don't want her to hurt herself! Any ideas on how to get her to calm down?

DID YOU NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING I SAID? As I said I've been keeping her in a Kennel. What is it excatly that you sugest I do leave her in there for 10 days? Right now she's only allowed out on the leash & I have to physcially restrain her to keep her still.

Yikes! That'll wreck your nerves. I'd keep her away from your other dogs as they'll just continue to stimulate her. Crate her and reward her for being quiet in the crate. Food has a calming effect so keep at it - I'm hesitating to recommend any kind of pill as she's just out of surgery and additional meds may be a bad idea.
You could teach her some clicker stuff. Mental exertion is a good idea! If you don't have a clicker, use a ball point pen with a retractable tip - the "click" from that will work. Crate games, and other things from the links below:

Keep the dog crated and seperate from your other dogs. This pup could tear open the surgery site. You are not suppose to let her run and jump after a spay, she should be kept quiet and calm and a crate would do the trick. You are suppose to look after the dogs well being.
Yes she should be confined for the 10 days.( I know they are much more difficult because of having to be confined for so much time but it is neccesary) It is the advice that was given when you picked her up. Do you think they told you to do this to be mean? If she is really this much problem maybe you could give her some Benedryl (dosage is 1 mg per pound, but if she is over 44 lbs just give her 2 tablets) it will make her drowsy which may help you. I do recommend dicussing this with a vet first. I know this can be a pain but at least it is only for 10 days. You should check the incision my female's incision was completely closed after 7 days. I hope you find this helpful.

Yes there are doggy relaxer pills, and kitty, They are very effective. People give them to pets when they go on long trips. Ask your vet or they may even carry them at petsmart or petco, you can look online or call the store before you go to make sure. Its not that expensive or else I never would have tried it!
