And any tips on keeping him quiet? He's a bit of a spaz and I worry about him aggravating the stitches.

just as long as a regular neuter (stitches/staples out in 2 weeks) - there will probably be staples instead of stitches and depending on how far up they have to go to find the other testicle there may be another incision.
keeping him quite (no roudiness) do you have a crate???? that's the best way whether he likes it or not - outside potty on a leash only atleast for the 1st week, avoid stairs if possible. i had my dogue de bourdeaux done last year and he turned out just fine.....(p.s. i work for a vet and we do this surgery all the time)

My youngest dog was cryptorchid and it took him about a week to recover, but his surgery was rather intense, so it depends on what happens there.

I didn't really have to do too much to keep him quiet, the painkillers took care of that, and this is a very hyper little guy.

Good luck, and congrats on getting him neutered! It is one of the most important things you can do as a dog owner.

My boy (also crytorchid) was sore for about 3 days as I recall (Its been a few years) my brothers cryptorcid had a harder row to hoe (they had problems with the retained teste) and was a day or two longer. They Both had to be confined a week or two though.
IS your boy tolerant of a crate/carrier? Because putting him there with a bone/chew toy/peanutbutter stuffed kong is probably your best answer....

This is called an abdominal castration. Your dog will be back to himself in a few days. Most dogs do leave there sutures alone, and your vet will give you instructions about watching his incision.
