She's 6 months, been scared stiff of other dogs out walking, until suddenly this week, she barks at them and chases them all of, german shepherds and boxers!! She sounds like she's gonna start fighting with every one that walks past. I am a bit worried, she's gonna come a cropper if I don't sort out her behaviour asap!

This dog could threaten the wrong dog. You need to correct this behavior now. You never know when one of those shepherds or boxers is going to turn around and attack her in return. One bite and she would be gone. You need to correct her every time she shows aggression toward another dog. Her behavior probably is fear aggression, but that doesn't make it any less dangerous. For her own safety, you need to correct her.

Yorkies tend to think they are large dogs.

My Yorkie protects us from squirrels, birds, deer, and chipmunks as well as every person and dog who walks past the house. She's so funny. She will also bark and chase a blowing leaf in the yard because she thinks it is a chipmunk.

She hardly barked her first year because she wasn't really aware of the world around her. (We had kept her allowable space small until she was house trained.) Once she was house trained, she had control of the kitchen and dining room which has a deck door she can look out into our back yard. Then, our peaceful life was over. Our quiet little yorkie became our fierce attack dog.

Yorkies are NOTORIOUS for barking. They bark when they're scared, mad, hungry, constipated, hurt, and excited. You need to learn the different types of barks she gives off when shes around different dogs. You'll know which is which in good time. Remember to leash her up,an ALWAYS keep her fenced in. Small fences can pose a threat,as the large dogs can easily jump over them, and fight,or worse eat her.
My dad's girlfriend has a toy Yorkie that thinks he owns everyone. So be patient and only use discipline when she poses a nuisance to others or yourselves.

Sometimes fear becomes aggression. It sounds like that's what's happening here. You need to introduce her to other dogs in a controlled manner. Try enrolling her (and yourself!) in an obedience class. She'll have the chance to see other dogs in a situation where all the focus is not on her, plus the training will increase her confidence and her trust in you. If she's more confident, then she won't be as aggressive.

A sudden behavioural change may be due to systemic disease, especially a sudden onset of aggression, it will be a good idea to visit the vet, especially in this young age, there are many diseases cause alter in behaviour.

There is no such thing as a toy Yorkie. Check the AKC web site.
