My dog goes to doggie-care when he comes back home, he has a distinct smell. I don't wanna wash him on the daily basis just b/c he will have a dry skin...is there a soln. to get rid of the smell w/out washing him? He smells like other dogs including urine!

I have a two year old rotweiller and he is hard to control. I don't believe in hitting animals, but I don't know how to discipline him. I saw the dog whisperer for the first time the other night, does this work?

She is a medium sized dog. She keeps sneezing. Everytime she sneezes bloody mucus comes out. Then, she had a nose bleed. Blood was poring out of her nose. That night we took her to the vet. They washed out her nose and made sure there was nothing in there. $1000 later, they said nothing was wrong. Gave her some meds and nose drops. It's been two weeks since the vet visit and two months since this started. There has been no significant chages. We keep consulting the vet, but they just keep saying nothing is wrong. She keep sneezing and bleeding! I want to help my poor dog. Any suggestions?

He is absolutely the sweetest, coolest dog(puppy)I've ever met. No barking, easy to train, friendly, loving and still a little bit independant. The only thing I don't like that he does is chew things that aren't his. He's not really too destructive, chews things like napkins and socks and little worthless things. I just don't want the habit to travel to other things. He goes everywhere with us in the car, never leashed or crated and doesn't have too many rules. I wonder if this is too permissive and will spoil him. I'd appreciate puppy advice from anyone who knows dogs and really means well for mine. He's 1/2 yorkie and 1/2 dachaund (a Dorkie). Playful when he's played with but for the most part he's super mellow and very quiet. He's a super picky eater and I have a hard time getting him to eat mosst of the time.

Thanks in advance to anyone who writes back

4 of my dog's teeth have fallen out, and I have just noticed it. Also, her breath is Horrible, like ROTTEN! What could be a cause of this? I have a Vet appt. Tomorrow, but want some type of idea.

I recently came across an add advertising Westie puppies. They are AKC registered, there is a 1 year written health guarantee, both parents are on sight, they are up to date on all of their shots, dw claws removed, parents and puppies are clear of all genetic health problems, and they are raised in the country with small children.

This all sounds really good, but then I came across several other adds that the same breeder had placed for other breeds. It appears she breeds at least 7 different breeds of dogs, all which have the same guarantees and promises as I saw for the Westie puppies.

Do you think this is a reputable breeder? I definitely don't like the idea of several different breeds being raised by one breeder, but then again it sounds like she is really up on taking care of them all, and is even able to offer a guarantee, and they're AKC. What do you think?

This is just great...my dog is basically naked in the coldest part of year, here in Memphis -- 25 to 30 degrees not uncommon.
For the past 10 years we have taken Shelby, our Shetland Sheepdog to the same vet/grooming facility. They always wash her and trim. She usually has hair averaging 4 or 5 inches long -- like "Lassie".
Yesterday, when I picked up my dog, I was in shock when they brought her out! She had been shaved to 1/4 inch or less! SHE'S BALD -- except from neck up! (They said the groomer involved had not been there long -- but she was such a nice person...)
Any ideas?

Please do not give me a breed name.

Lets be real here people and what is a dangerous dog? How is one determined.

Isnt any strong dog capable of taking human life? Isnt any dog of any size capable of causing series injuries? Isnt any dog capable of snapping at any given time?

Why does it seem to be the Bull Breeds which are being scrutinised when there are beloved breeds, Labs, Dalmations, Poodles etc biting and snapping all across the UK?

Shouldnt all breeds be considered dangerous?

I am looking for a dachshund as a home companion. I am normally used to having a little dog running around at my feet and since my previous dogs have passed on I feel it is time to start fresh. I would really love to have a cute little dachshund and yet I cannot find any breeders in NH. If anyone knows of anyone selling, or giving away, dachshunds near or around Conway NH please let me know :) Thanks

I have a 1yr old boston terrier and he is great. He is crate trained and when we are gone that is where he stays. We have tried to leave him out in small doses and he just goes crazy. Sometimes he is good, but rarely. I hate leaving him in his crate when we are out of the house. Is there anyway to fix this? He usually destroys things...like magazines, the couch cushions, etc.

My dog is the nicest dog is the world. My family and I always thought what a good mother she would be, and last night she had seven puppies. The problem is, she won't lick them or cuddle or clean them. I actually think she might even be scared of them. Is this normal? What can I do to help? Why won't she act like a mother to them? [Please don't say that I'm stupid because I should be a respnosible breeder..I'm only 15 years old]

I have a 6 yr old male yorkie that is having a bit of trouble breathing. Most of the time he looks like he just can't seem to catch his breath. He is on medication for what the vet diagnosed as asthma. Could that be why he is having trouble breathing? If not what could be wrong?

How? I'm sick right now and my dog always comes on to me, licks me, sits with me, trys to cheer me up, and when I was a kid I hurt myself (I forget how) I was crying and my dog jumped on my lap and cheered me up. How do dogs know when your sick or hurt?
