Dogs are what you make them I had a pit bull for 11years and she was the most loveable devoted dog you ever could have. some peope say that this breed is very ferrocious, ILets talk a presser canaries and doberman pinchers and akitas these breeds are just as agressive . It is all how you raise the animal. if rasise to be ferrocious an animal will be such depends on what you prefer.....dont give all pits a bad name, they are loving and deovted dogs.....

It would be good if you could elaborate on your question a bit.
Are you looking to find out what kind of dog makes a good watch dog or what kind of dog to look out for? What is it that you need to know?
Any dog can be ferocious. It all depends on how the dog is trained and/or treated. There are no real bad dogs just like children aren't born brats. They are made that way. Many dogs are victim to a horemonal defect called "Rage" It can be avoided if the dog (male) is neutered before puberty. Otherwise too much tesaterone is made and the dog essentially goes mad. There's no cure. It's pretty terrible. It happens to Male , large dogs. Akitas and Chow-chows are especially suseptable to this. Another great reason to get your dog spayed or neutered.

It 's not the most ferrocious dog, it's the most ferrocious owner of the dog. Any dog can be trained to be ferrocious, but it's the owner that makes them that way.

A lot of people here don't know squat.

I rescue abused and mistreated dogs. The most mistreated are the most loveable and grateful to be out of their situations. They become the most loyal and attached.

The worse are the ones that were sheltered and never experienced things out there. They don't know what kids on bikes are and they want to protect themselves. Dogs must be introduced to things as puppies. Dogs chained and ignored are often more aggressive. They have been forbiddden to experience things and feel it is their duty to attack anything they don't know.

I just rescued one that has run amock all her 18 months of life. no training no discipline no love no home and she is the most submissive loveable girl you could imagine. So all of those that state dogs without training are ferocious need to come see the goof ball dorks we rescue. They don't have much of a clue how to function when we get them but being aggressive is not in their daily routine either ever. This girl is learning her crate is a safe place and after 1 week has realized people and other doggie friends are good. She jumps on us but she knows she won't get hurt for it either.

The most aggressive dog I have ever rescued was a great dane from a so called reputable breeder (BYB). She couldn't find anyone to take him because he wanted to attack everyone. Great with dogs, cats me and another volunteer but even wanted to eat my kid. At 115 pounds and 8 month old he had to be pts. He was a danger to society.

FYI - NOT ONE PIT I HAVE RESCUED HAS BEEN A DANGER TO SOCIETY!!!

My meanest is a border collie fruit loop. I rescued her from a puppymill situation years ago and she would never copme out hid 24 -7 I never made her come out and now she still freaks out over everything. SHe is mine it was my fault. SHe was never in ethe way we let her be and do what she wanted.

My meanest foster and most unpredictable is a so called purebred. We have figured out how to control him and handle him and what sets him off but it took some time. He was so ferocious with animal control and the vet poking him he was going to be pts. He's 20 pounds soaking wet and cute as a button when you don't piss him off. But can also be mean as a snake in the wrong situation. But so cute laying on his back like a baby playing with my fingers. He was a sheltered dog. In sheltered I mean more in they way some treat their children not a dog shelter. He belonged to a woman that died. We did find out she lived near me and he actually whines when we go past certain places inthe neighborhood. I couldn't put his cute little butt to sleep.

I was told to put this guy to sleep. I know there is a home for him!!!

Added:

In tact males are the most likely to attack!!!

Unaltered animals are most likely to be "ferocious"

It really isn't breed specific. I do think in most cases the more responsible pet owners realize their pet is a danger to society and have them euthanized where pit owners that have pits that have attacked enjoyed their pet being mean. Thinking they could handle it and whoever gets in the dogs way deserve it is the mentallity of those that have the pits that give pits a bad name.

How ferocious a dog is depends on how it was raised and how much of a guardian instinct it has.

The most dangerous dogs in terms of how much their attack can harm a person are dogs with stocky builds and powerful jaws, along with a strong guardian instinct.

But some ferocious dogs are very small, they just can't do as much damage.

My 9 year old Pomeranian, Fox. Seriously - Kujo has nothing on this little bastard. He's lucky I love him so much!

And I think it's unfair to say that owners always cause a dog to be ferocious. This is probably true a majority of the time, but in the case of my dog, for example, he's been that way since birth. He's been nothing but loved and cared for, and he's very fearful and aggressive none the less.

if you ask me i would have to go for a Rottweiler - i think got the spelling wrong.but a dog grows ferocious according its masters.when a dog is tied up for a prolonged period of time they grow ferocious and tend to get their teeth into their masters also.dogs are basically animals that are loyal animals.when dog barks at an intruder it is only alerting us about some one whom the dog is not familiar with.in the case of illegal entry dogs have unbelievable sense of fear and they know exactly if the person is going to harm it or its master and that's their instinct to protect its loved one triggers and they will everything and anything to protect its owners safety and its own.
