I know it's different diets for dogs and cats, but the cat seems to like the dogfood better than catfood. Does this affect their health?

He only poops when the door is open, other than that he uses his littler box. ( little box is cleaned 2 x a day.) He does this even when we wash and bleach the rug. WHY!

My cat had a minor surgery on Thursday. She came home on Saturday & used her litter box to pee twice, but only maybe 2-3 tablesoons at a time. On Sunday I changed her litter & she got in and put maybe 1-2 teaspoons of pee. Since then she has not peed. She has not pooed since she got home. She is on antibiotics & pain meds. On Tuesday I brought her back in to the vet because I was concerned he has not been peeing or pooing. They suggested giving her hairball treatment 3 times a day to help her poo. She is drinking lots of water & eating so they do not seem concerned at this time about her not peeing & that it is probably just a side effect from the anesthesia. Today it has been 6 days since the surgery, how long can this animal go without peeing? I know for a fact she is not going anywhere else in the house. She has been acting normal, but her stomach is a little hard and bloated. She sniffs at her litter box but that is all she does. Any ideas?

So yeah, he's been asleep all day, all night then all day again. He's really flitches when you smooth him, which he doesn't normally do.

He'll normally sleep, go out, eat, just ponder about.

But he's not eating, just sleeping and hissing for no reason.

He's about ten years old now, do you think he is dying?

Last night my kitten went out for a wee and when he didn't come back we got very worried. He returned about midnight looking shaken and unable to walk properly. He has spent most of the day sleeping and cannot walk. He won't eat or drink anything, he cries if you try to pick him up. What do I do? I live in France and can't find a local vet that is open at the moment. I have no phone so can't call round, and all my neighbours are at work. I am so worried about him, he looks so pitiful, please help, even a temporary solution would be appreciated, until I can find a vet! Thank you so much.

I am trying to figure out if the flea med I bought (Frontline Plus) is working. My cat seems to clean himself more than scratch but he does scratch occasionally during the day. Are the fleas dead and his skin is just itchy from the leftover flea bites? Because I do not physically see any fleas.

We got this cat about 2 months ago and we just realized it has fleas. I am afraid that I will bring them into my house after visiting with my boyfriedn at his apartment. I see him everyday basically. Is it on a rare basis that I can carry them into my house after visiting him? He is also moving into a new apartment soon and I want to know how we can move without bringing the fleas into his new apartment?

Friend does not know what happened to the cat....Gracie.
Gracie is now hissing at and in general acting angry towards litter mate ...Toby.
3 year old cats...one male..one female.
spayed and nuetered.
well taken care of cats.
you better believe they have had all the prescribed shots.
Friend took to Vet.....vet prescribed some antibiotics(just in case).
No obvious injuries.
Nothing.
I was over the house this afternoon and the cat is is sweet as usual.
except...still acting hostile towards other cat.
Pampered cats.

What might cause a shift in behaviour?

Toby is trying to be friendly but Gracie hisses at him.
This has been going on for a couple of days.

I will be checking in on cats while friend is out of town.
Another person is also stopping by to check food and water but she not much of a cat person.

I am the cat person and will be spending more quality time with the cat..

any dieas?

I have 2 male brother cats....they are a rescue in my eyes. The girl that had them from the time they were born (now they are 4 years old) decided one day she no longer liked or wanted them. So she gave them to a woman who actually hates cats and she just threw them outside...they are nuetered and declawed and never outside before and never seperated. Well the one got lost for a few days then they found him and I went and got them since she was going to leave them out. I have had them for a few months now and they are both extemely sweet. But now the one that was lost (not that any of that really goes with my question)...he stares at me ALL THE TIME. Like he will just keep staring and look into my eyes and meow alot when he does. Not hungry..as far as I know doesnt need anything. He rubs against me when he does this. I have had and been around bunches of cats and never seen a cat stare like this one does. I catch him looking at me alot, then when I see him, he meows again. Any ideas Y?

I've just adopted my first cat. i got him from a freind who was moving apartments and she could nolonger have him.
When I got him he was already wearing a flea collar, and she said that she had trainied him since he was small to wear one.
Not sure how long the collar's been on the little guy I decided to take it off and put a new one on him. But when I tried to put the new one on him all hell broke lose and I couldn't get him to stay still long enough for me to put the thing on, when I grabbed him again to try and slip it over his head, let's just say I was the one who went away licking their wounds!!! Haha. I really want him to wear his collar, how can I get him to stay put till I put it on and not be afraid of it???
It took him nearly all night to forgive me and let me pat him when I tried!!!

Our cat had one but has gone to the liter box yet. How long should be wait to see if she'll go?

If she hasn't gone in the usual amount of time, what does that mean?

I have two adult cats and use two litter boxes. I was thinking about investing in the self cleaning litter boxes. They are expensive. Before I do I was wondering if anyone has them and do they work well. Would one work fine for two cats? Thanks in advance!

My cat, Lucy, pees on things when she is upset. We got a new cat recently and Lucy has been less playful since then but didn't start peeing until we got a sofa from our friends. Their dog used to sleep on the sofa. I cleaned, vacuumed and steam-cleaned the upholstery and washed the pillow covers. She has peed on the sofa in the same spot three times in 2 weeks. I don't know what to do. Punishment doesn't work and I hate seeing her punished anyway. Citrus doesn't work. Any suggestions?
