I have a 6 year old kitty. 10 months ago his brother and companion died unexpectedly. Our kitty is shy and neurotic and wouldn't handle another cat well. My husband and I both have full time jobs and when we come home, he just howls all night long. We invite him onto our laps and try to play with him and pet him, but he still meows ALL THE TIME like we aren't paying him enough attention. We are about to have a baby in 2 weeks and I'm scared it's going to put the cat over the edge. Does the meowing mean he's depressed or just being a cat? (he never acted like that when we had 2 cats.)

I've known him for a long time and really like him. I have 2 cats - he's very allergic. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do about it?

(I will absolutely not ever get rid of my cats.)

Would appreciate anyone owning a Ragdoll cat it you could tell
me it's persona and disposition. Have read on them but nothing is quite as good as hearing from owners thereself.
Have read they are quite laid back and very well behaved cats.
Thank you and God Bless.

My husband wants to give the "lion's cut" to our four cats. The lion's cut is where they shave off the fur but keep the head and leg hair. I don't want my cats to look like freaks, but he doesn't want to deal with all the excess cat fur. I seen those special brushes that remove excess hair, but would this be enough to solve the problem? He wants me to make an appointment today, ahh! So please write soon cat people! Thanks.

My 5 month old cat wont eat and is just lying about the house. He looks listless and doesnt want to play. When he goes to the littler box, he seems to have some diarrhea. Will this pass or should I take him in to the Vet?

We've had a rescue cat for a few months (from an RSPCA shelter). Last week we went on holiday and left him in a decent cattery. I was heartbroken when we left him as he looked so distressed. I spent all the holiday worrying about him.
Is it kinder to leave him at home whilst we are away instead? We have neighbours and family nearby who will come in and feed him and let him out etc.
We tend to go on several short breaks throughout the year (just 3/4 days), rather than a couple of longer holidays, and I wondered if it was kinder to let him stay in his own home. His welfare is of utmost importance, but as my fiance pointed out - I need to be able to go on holiday and not constantly worry about him too!
Advice appreciated as I'm 'new' to cats - thank you.

I have a stuffed black and white stripped tiger I want to name (I've had him since I was like 6 and I still haven't named him), but I can't seem to come up with a name that fits him. It's a totally random question, but please help. Thanks!

She is 4 years old and durring this time she has been a very loving cat, at least to me and my husband (she is not a big fan of strangers) and since my daughter has been born she has been really good with her too. However every couple of months (there was 10 months between the last one) she just freaks out and attacks me or my husband and just recently she even got my daughter. I can't figure out a single common element to any of these attacks and if I can't find a way to stop them I may have to get rid of her. Any ideas?

I want to keep fliuds in her so I wonder if I give her water with a syringe will that help hydrate her. She is urinating out of the box, not eating, drinking or moving much. And as for the Vet nurse (chalice). I had my cat for along time and she has made every vet visit as needed and had all illnesses taken care of. Everyones finacial state does not stay the same and how rude of you to suggest that I should not have my cat if at the time I can't afford a $900-$1000 vet bill. I have 5 children, 2 pedegree dogs and my siamese and niether have ever gone without.back to my question has anyone ever used a syringe to hydrate a sick cat? I can get her to the vet on friday when the funds are available and I will check with my vet to see if they can see her sooner.

but do any animals appear to appreciate music, and if so how? Before swf2020 begins to go beserk that I am subjecting my cats to techno, for example, my cats seem to tolerate and acknowledge some music and even seem to enjoy it, but they don't dance to it. I know that higher frequencies do their heads in but surely some music as we know it is recognised by animals.

just answered a Q about cats, and some people have said that they HATE cats? Thats beyond me, how you could hate a cat? What have they done to you. You might not be overly keen, not everyone loves animlas but to say you hate cats is wrong!

My neighborhood is cat friendly and we all look after each other's pets. A new neighbor moved in recently who has a tom cat. Heis terrorizing every cat in the neighborhood. He fights with them, chases them, and is generally just a pain. I talked with a lady down the street yesterday who had to take her cat to the vet for stitches because of him. I've talked to the new woman before about it and she said she can't afford to have him fixed. What can we do? All our cats have been going out for years and now this guy is ruining their fun. If I sneak him to be fixed she might get upset and sue me (it's happened). Suggestions?

Yesterday, I had my male cat neutered. His sister cried all night for him, and I know she missed him. Today, I brought him home from the clinic, and now all she wants to do is hiss and growl at him. Why? Should I keep them separated for a while, or just leave them alone? This is driving me crazy. If anyone has been through this, please help!!?? Thank you

I purchased my home in June ’06. I immediately had a land survey done. The survey showed the neighbor was 5ft ON my property. I wanted my 5 feet wide x 50ft long. I took the survey over to my neighbor to show him, immediately he was angry with me. How dare me!!? Anyways..he moved his fence, installed a new one. Since then I have caught him & his wife watching my daughter & I play or just being outside. I finally was able to catch the neighbor on film looking over my fence watching from a step ladder. Now as of two days ago he added lattice & bamboo. 3 feet additional height to the 6 ft fence. Now a 9ft high fence. I searched online and he has no current permit. Also his cats (4) have pissed all over my vehicles & garden beds. I want them away and I want his 9ft fence lowered so he can't hide and watch us! What can I do? BTW, my neighbor is a retired Army Master Sargeant, no one tells him anything! I am in the state of Maryland if that helps. AA county.

I just rescued a stray cat and I am taking her to the vets tomorrow (Wednesday) to get spayed and to have her shots done. She will be there all day (from 8am-7pm) Is there anything i can do to prep her for the surgery? What about things to make her more comfortable after surgery?

Thanks
