I'm sure your cat does think about you. Especially when he wants a treat or food or something out of the fridge. Or maybe even when his litter box is full.
He might be lonely. Maybe you should adopt a kitten to keep him happy and active.

I am sorry to hear about your cat dying. I have a cat and our family must have had 100 cats since i was a child! It is true! I believe they think about you at times! But cats are constantly searching, looking for anything or into mischief And they control What they do and think! But something you might try is leaving the radio or some type of calm sound on! My brother tried this when one of his dogs died and he had to work and leave the other home alone! He said it really helped! Good Luck!!!

I heard that cats will forget about their owner faster than any other animal. They're not as smart as you think. I had to trap some stray cats in a cage once to bring them to a shelter. This one cat who I caught first managed to break through the cage because I constructed it wrong. Wouldn't you know he was the 1st cat to get himself trapped again the very next day, except this time I fixed the cage. He banged back and forth on that cage to break it open, so how come he wasn't smart enough to avoid it the next day? The answer is because there was food in the cage. That's why cats probably come home. And when you pet them, they're not doing it to love you. They just want to be loved. It's total selfishness. That means, they don't think about you. When was the last time your cat came to you while you were crying about something?

I think dogs would think of their owners; cats are way too selfish to spend a second thinking of a human who is not in their immediate sight! And even if you were, they probably want to eat.

Probably. Kitties do miss and recognize their people, after all. And they know who puts down the food and provides warm laps to sit in.
