I killed a Goldfinch today, my cat Molly had it. It was half dead and in shock, so I've taken my advise I have given to others here and drowned the poor thing. I took it in my hand and submerged it in cool water. A few bubbles later it was in peace and out of pain, I feel kinda guilty for taking a life but I thought it was the kindest thing to do.
Dose anyone concur?

Anyone know about how much it would cost to have x-rays done on a cat? Thanks.

I am worried that my kitten will get cold if he does not sleep in his nice warm basket now the nights are getting much colder.
I have tried different baskets, as I thought that maybe he did not like his basket (even tried a cardboard box!!) but he just sleep where he drops ! Is this ok ?

I have a six month old tom and a two year old female. The female is in season and all over the male like a rash. He has begun spraying but does not seem remotely interested in my female cat. Last time the female was in season the male did have a go at humping her but this time he shows no interest at all. Is he gay?

We found a new cat in our neighborhood, and we figure its a stray, so we plan on keeping it (after taking it to a vet and having it checkd out). Its a little girl, kinda looks like a young lynx...so she has no tail. What do you think we should name her? Only serious suggestions please.

Thanks!

For Madison...Thanks for your comment. All my cats are nuetered. By time she was giving to me, she must have been pregnant. She has never been outside. So no I don't feel irrresponsible. By time I had taken her to get her shots, they said she was pregnant. I can't afford a vet and the only overnight vet wouldn't take a payment plan... He just told me to leave her at an animal shelter, which I thought was cruel. The only kitten she had is doing great but the mama is still trying to push and nothing. I have been crying cuz I feel helpless. I even put a condom on and tried to stick my finger up her to feel but I couldn't get it up there. I just pray she makes it and passes these kittens, even though they are stillborn.. I just want her to be ok.

I have multiple outside cats. Recently, one came home suddenly appearing hunched over and completely lacking energy. He was a little over a year old. We believed he'd been struck by a vehicle. In a couple days he began walking properly again, but drastically lost weight, and allowing us to walk up and pet him (he was wild), then he died.

A couple weeks ago a seemingly healthy kitten (about 4 mnths old) began sleeping all day, ceased eating, dropped weight in a matter of days and then died. Now its only remaining sibling is dropping weight, hardly eating, and has allowed me to bring food right to its nose.

Our dog, who normally investigates (if not chews on) everything, wouldn't go near the corpses of the two that died.

What type of disease could my cats have? Is it possibly rabies? If so...how would this be possible to be a sudden epidemic?

I was looking at petfinder.com and I found a cat I think I would like to adopt. I emailed the animal control center, which is where the cat is, and they didn't respond after a couple days. So this morning around 8:30 I called and left a message. It seems they don't answer their phone, and my call wasn't returned today either. How long does it usually take? All I want to do is set up a time to come in and see the cat and meet with the officers to discuss adoption.

Help! My spayed female cat just decided to pee all over my scrub uniforms for work! They were in my laundry basket in my room and she peed in the basket! She has a litter litter pan in my room too, and I clean it every morning! She has never done this before and this is the only time (that I know of) that she's done it. Afterwards, she used her litter box now. It figures, she has to pee on my work uniforms! I have tried soaking the clothes in vinegar and baking soda and the smell is still there! I have to get this smell out of these clothes, I paid a lot of money for them! Can anyone help me??
Thanks to all who respond!

She is a three year old meine coon ( I think that is how you spell it). She has been sneezing for the past two weeks and today when I came home from work I noticed her right eye is swollen(on the inside). It looks kind of like her lid, top and bottom, is flipped. She is also missing a patch of hair on her right ear. Same side as the eye. She's eating and using the bathroom alright. She was around another cat that I was considering rescuing from APL but they didn't get along. The rescue cat was tested for FIV and FLV both negative. It was being treated for kennel cough. Besides that I can't think of what it could be and I really need to know if I should be taking off work to take her to the vet or if she'll be okay until Thursday when I have a day off?

I have two kittens, one male one female. Both are around 16 weeks old, and the male's testicles have started to drop, so I know in a few months he can be neutered, but I was wondering about the female as I don't think it's as obvious as with males.

He started life feral but has resided at a shelter and was reasonably social with other cats and let workers pet him.

The same day we also adopted another 6 month old kitten who's very social and well adjusted.

We knew he'd be "skittish" at first, so we let him out of the carrier and put food, water and a litter box down for him and gave him space.

After the first night, we looked for him and couldn't find him.

The 2nd night we heard a crash in the kitchen, we approached and he went ballistic, running to and fro, jumping straight up, breaking stuff; it was sad. We left him alone and he disappeared again overnight.

We figured out that he'd found a hiding place inside kitchen cabinet behind the dishwasher. We've coaxed him out and blocked the entrance.

The other kitty interacted with him and seemed to be trying to calm and encourage him, talking and trilling.

Now he's in the closet. We'll continue to be patient and give him space.

Any suggestions on easing him into our home?

I just took in 2 baby kittens that were abandoned by their mother under my porch. They were both doing very well until today. I woke up one of them around 2 hrs ago to feed and he can't stay awake for longer than 2 seconds, literally! He wakes up to my voice, but otherwise sleeps non-stop. I know he's still young and tend to sleep a lot but this seems abnormal since he's usually hard to put down. Has anyone else experienced this??

i know that tortoiseshell is a color NOT a breed. we had our 12 1/2 year old tortie put to sleep on 2-8-07. adopted another tortie 7-31-07. both cats love (d) to bite toes, sit like a lemur and follow me around like a puppy. our jet black cat does not do those things. our first tortie was a dsh. the new baby girl is mostly siamese. any ideas?

I took my tomcat in today to have him neutered. The vet said I could pick him up this evening. Well, when I called, they said they'd have to keep him because he is still too groggy to come home. Needless to say, it's very quiet here. He usually follows me and MEOWS very loudly at me until I pay attention to him. He's usually my entertainment along with his sister in the evening. They're quite funny together, and now she and I both have the blues. Can you tell me something funny to cheer me up? Thank you, in advance!!

He is a tiger tabby with markings like a cheetah on the side of his face, and has orange eyes. Beautiful! Got any exotic name ideas (African, Egyptian, etc.)? My kids suggested Bagheera - can you tell they just watched the Jungle Book? lol
