Kennel cough is extremely contagious. Your girl needs antibiotics ASAP. Can you maybe take 1/2 a day off to get her to the vet? She really needs to go. Do not give your cat any meds human or animal without your vet's approval. Cats have very different systems and the wrong meds can kill them.

In your shoes I would call my vet. They have been great about letting me know what to watch out for that is truly urgent and needs immediate attention, and what can wait for a few days until it is more convenient to bring the cats in. They have also been great about instructing me on what I can do at home to ease the symptoms.
Another responder suggested giving half a Benedryl. That's a really bad idea. I do know for a fact that cats can take Benedryl, but unless your cat is half the size of an adult human being, half a Benedryl tablet would be far, far too much. If you think you would like to try giving your cat Benedryl, again, contact your vet for dosage instructions. The vet will likely suggest getting children's Benedryl in liquid form, and tell you how many mL per pound of body weight to give.
Unfortunately, I think it is more likely that your cat picked up some illness from the foster cat than that your cat would suddenly develop allergies coincidentally just at the same time it was exposed to another, sick cat.

It sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection. The eyes of a cat with URI can sometimes swell shut. when a cat is sneezing and has swollen eyes it can affect their sense of taste. Make sure she is still eating. She probably caught this from the rescue cat. She may also have an ear infection alot of eye problems start as ear infections because the ear is irritated and kitty rubs ear and accidentally does damage to eye. DO NOT GIVE BENADRYL TO YOUR CAT IT CAN KILL YOUR CAT. There are very few human meds that cats can take cats are very sensitive. Take her to vet asap

Ugh, if the cat you were looking at was being treated for kennel cough. Well, that is when you should have said no to having your cat exposed to the rescue cat. Besides, cats don't get kennel cough, only dogs do. I'm more on the line of thinking tho, URI (upper respiratory infection), or a cold as we humans put it. URI can be life threatening if not treated right away. I'm not saying that is what your kitty has. But, to me that is what it sounds like. Please, take kitty to a veterinarian for a check up. Don't wait too long as I have seen cats die from URI. I hope this advice helps.

I think your pet is way more important then work. Pets are like part of the family and are nessacary or however you spell that lol. Take a day off (its only 1) and take the cat to a vet. Its better to be safe then sorry. Good Luck and I hope the cat is alright.

my cat had sneezing issues, and the vet told me that cats sneeze every once in a while like people do. But if she really does look bad, i would take some time from work to get her to the vet. It doesn't sound urgent, but it could be if you wait too long.

watch things like if your cat stops eating as much as you feel that it she should be. If she is losing hair, she might have an illness which could be minor but check every now and then if it continues, I would strongly recomend taking her to the vet.
Her eye may be an infection so it might be wise to get it checked. I'm not a vet but I hope that my advice helped some.

I wouldn't wait until Thursday; I'd take her to the vet tomorrow morning. It sounds like she's got an infection of some sort and—especially where her eye is involved—the sooner she can get treated for it, the better.
I hope that it is something that can be cleared easily with antibiotics.

It's Maine Coon, and it sounds like she was in a fight, so get her to the doc to be checked out. Antibiotics can help her feel better fast and you don't want to deal with an abscess if you let it go too long.
