I just took in 2 baby kittens that were abandoned by their mother under my porch. They were both doing very well until today. I woke up one of them around 2 hrs ago to feed and he can't stay awake for longer than 2 seconds, literally! He wakes up to my voice, but otherwise sleeps non-stop. I know he's still young and tend to sleep a lot but this seems abnormal since he's usually hard to put down. Has anyone else experienced this??

No it is not normal. You have taken on a lot here if these kittens are only 2 weeks old. Are you feeding them often enough and the proper replacement milk. I would get this one checked out very soon by the vet as it does not sound good at all. There really is no substitute for Mum and you are obviously doing your best but i am afraid that it is not always enough and you may have to face losing one or both. It is very, very sad to lose a kitten or puppy that you put a lot of time and effort into. The vet is your only ally right now and even if it costs, the kitten needs help that you may not be able to give. Good Luck.

Well is it REALLY 2 seconds? I know that all of the little kittens that I have ever had fall alsleep about every 7 minutes. Do your kittens play at all? That's what mine always would do, play really hard and the fall asleep in any position they ended up in. it could just be, like you said that they are young. But if you really think that something is up, I would take them to the vet or ask a friend if they know anything about it. It also could be, it hears your voice, opens it's eyes slightly to see what you're doing, than just ignores you and goes back to sleep. All of my cats do that.

by way of 6 weeks i had my daughter in a time table, initiate giving him a shower on an identical time each night and feed him after and then enable him nod off as your feeding him, placed him to mattress in his crib and then everytime he wakes up at night shop the lights off ( perchance get a dim night easy) do no longer tlk to him or make him excited or inspired then exchange his bum and sit down in a rocking chair or some thing inhis room to furnish him some greater bottle, regularly by way of no longer turning on the lights or chatting with him or stimulating him in any way itll help him stay in a kinda sleepy state so as that when he feeds at night he will consume and fall back asleep. you will nonetheless be up each 3 or 4 hours yet he will in basic terms be conscious for like a million/2 hour, now recommendations you it rather is going to take some days of a relentless habitual for him to start to get interior the habit of it besides the shown fact that it will artwork, it took me purely over a week to get a habitual known, i might say provide a shower around 8 and have exciting splash and communicate and all that kinda stuff then while he gets out provide his bottle and around 9 he could be asleep, shop the time table and you're able to be positive, :)

Yes, not only are they young but I'm sure they're exhausted from being abandoned. The poor kitties could've spent a long time awake and hungry, waiting for their mom. Now with their tummies full and a house to call their own, they're ready to sleep. I wouldn't worry about it unless this lasts for more than a day or two. Even then, remember, kittens sleep. A lot.

It doesn't sound normal. If you can't get the kittens to an emergency vet tonight, I'd take them to the vet first thing in the morning.

Kittens at that age require constant care and around-the-clock feeding. And when they get sick, they can deteriorate very quickly.

I hope that they will be ok.
Best wishes,
Cat

Young kittens(still nursing) do nothing but eat and sleep, as long as he's eating and not losing weight he's fine.

Let them sleep; it's what they do best.
