How cute! Never fear he is just fine. He has fur you know and will find warmth. Maybe by an appliance like by the frig, TV or computer or slip onto your bed. If his eating habits change then worry about something. Sounds like you have alot of love for him. Lucky kitty.
*leave the bed close by and someday he may curl up in it, but in his own time!

Yeah, he'll be fine. Cats are daft and I sometimes find my cats sleeping in the silliest places. Because he's young he's not really bothered, but you'll find he likes his comfort as he gets older. My cats sleep in baskets under my bed because it's dark and warm there! Sometimes though they'll just sleep in the middle of the room and I always think it's silly when they've got nice warm baskets! They do seem to like blankets though. Have you tried a blanket at the end of your bed. My cats love sleeping near us on the bed because I think they like the warmth given off my humans.

Sounds like you have what we like to call barn cats in my area :) I bet she would love her very own cat-box. You can make them out of old plastic totes, cut a square out of it that she can fit through and stuff it with straw! It will keep her nice and toasty, not to mention protect her from the elements. If you don't have a plastic bin, closed cardboard boxes can also do the trick. Sure, everyone knows she'd be warmer inside. But if you have an outside cat, this is an effective shelter for her. If the temperature drops below freezing, may want to consider putting her box in a barn/closed shed with heat lamp/basement or something so she doesn't freeze to death! Lots of high calorie food will help her pack on the ounces for the coming winter and keep her warm and sassy :) You never know, come spring you could have a good little mouser!

I have had several cats and they did not like their baskets either. Not to worry. You kitty will curl up and his fur will keep him warm. Make sure he can find a spot that's not drafty, and if your place is all hardwood or tile etc, maybe just a towel on the floor? My cat's favourite places are on top of the couch where she can see everything, and on the bed. So I just put towels in those places.

I'd just leave him to it he knows what he wants, the baskets are probably too warm or maybe he just likes the felling of the carpet or hard floor, if he gets cold he will probably let you know by sleeping in his basket

He has a fur coat on rememeber! Also remember that cats are sensible animals, they will not let themselves become cold. Clearly your house is warm enough so the kitten is warm enough anywhere, which is why he sleeps anywhere. Cat do not necessarily need special bed, they'll sleep where they want.

yeah dont worry about it. cats can keep them selves warm wherever they are. cats tend not to sleep in baskets unless the only other option is a cold floor.
one of my 2 cats is outdoor cat and she sleeps in the garage, the other does too but she is in the house during the day.

Your kitten has a fur coat to keep him warm in the winter and is unlikely to be cold. Plus being a cat, comfort is of the utmost importance and they would never settle for being cold.

Hi, I am sure he'll be fine, keep the basket away from draughty places like doors and under windows if you're still concerned.Try putting an item of your clothing that you have worn in the basket, this will have your scent on it and it'll make him feel safe and content.x

its absolutely fine.I always say when it comes to cat instinct and behaviour, look to the habits of lions.lions dont have a set sleeping area, they just clump together.Your cat may want to sleep near you,at the foot of your bed for example,as they are social creatures and look to this huddling together for a sense of protection, security and comfort.Youll maybe see your cat sleeping on raised up areas. His present bed may be too low down. They like the backs of sofas, our beds etc.Dunno if youve seen those sheepskin hammock-type things that hook over radiators but theyre always a favourite.i made mine a big thick denim cushion and put it in the back of my sofa and they love it.But essentially, theres not really a good reason to MAKE a cat have a set sleeping area,is there?Just people like them to cos its nice isnt it?You know where theyll be,you can keep an eye on them and they look pretty!Tell you what...put something squashy on the floor of his bed like a bean baggy cushion or half filled water bottle, put a fleece or sheepskin in there, raise it up to above 2 feet off the floor and see if that works. As for the cold youd be surprised what they can tolerate, and if he really is that chilly, hell get on the bed with you for warmth.
