We have taken in a stray cat who is not very old. We live near a college area and believe a student may have left her at the beginning of the summer. After months of debating we decided to take her in for good Monday night. I went to the vet (she is scheduled to go in Fri) to get the Frontline to de-flea her - it worked well. But, during the night she jumps up onto our bed and wants to play, lightly clawing to get our attention or burrowing under the sheets. What method of discipline should we use to keep her off of the bed? We wouldn't mind having her up there if she would just sleep... but since she doesn't we need some way of trying to solve this issue -we are in a lofted apt. for 6 more weeks and there is no bedroom door so we cannot just shut her out. We have been up all night the past couple of nights in a losing battle of putting her on the floor and at the end of the bed. This is our first cat so we are still reading and learning a lot. Any help would be wonderful!

I have two cats, one girl who is a year old, living with me, and a boy 4 years old living at my mom's that I take care of. I've been bringing the girl to visit the boy every couple of weeks since she was a 10 week old kitten, the visits last about ten minutes. They have sniffed each other over and seem friendly, the boy seems to especially like the girl, they are both fixed. I took her over to see the boy today and I let her out of her carrier and she ran at him and they both bit on each other's necks, for a moment I was scared and almost seperated them, but then they both took off following each other back and forth in the house. There was no growling or hissing, but still it seemed pretty violent, and then they got along. Was this play, or aggresion?

He had wandered across the street, acccompanying the previous queen of the pack, but eventually she left the scene. And he remained across the street, but I brought him over to share the general meal, with milk. After a while, he started following me across the street, going back to my house.

I’d like to hear some stories and see how long it took to get the cat comfortable with humans.

I used to volunteer at a no-kill shelter and we had one very large cat. He was not fat by any means. He was just large and very muscular. He also had a large head. He’s not one of those really long cats.

Is there a breed of cat who’s size is larger than any other breed?

I can't find anything that tells me exactly what a ferrell cat is. I believe I saw a picture of one and it looked just like a Tabby. Can someone answer these questions for me? Thanks

My mother wants a new cat or kitten. She is going to adopt from our local shelter. The new cat will be mostly outside, in her sunroom, and in her garage.

All of the cats at the shelter are reasonably young. Should she get a 6 to 8 week old kitten or a cat that is 2 to 4 months old? Will one stay closer to home than the other and be a better outside cat?

She may decide to adopt two cats. Is that a good or bad idea? Does it matter if the two are close in age, or would a 8 week old and 4 month old be okay?

Thanks for your insight and, yes, the cats will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated.

I love my cat very much, but the older he gets, the more he becomes my shadow! Everytime I switch rooms, he follows me. If I close the door to go to the bathroom, he will cry and paw at it. When I go on our apartments balcony to smoke, he tries to come out with me or he'll scratch the window's screen and meow to come out. I go down the stairs, he comes. I go up the stairs, he comes. I sit at the computer, he'll paw at my leg and meow until I give him attention.

How can I make him more independant?? This is driving me NUTS!! I've had him for over 2 yrs and its never been this bad, but it slowly gets worse as time goes on and I want to break the cycle.

HELP!
