i have a cat who is about 20 lbs and he used to be 12. i want to get him down it size because it is so not heathly for him, and man dose it hurt if he jumps on you!! i also have 6 other normal weight cats (one of them is a kitten) so i dont want to put them all on low cal food especially the kitten! i let them feed them selfs when ever they want. i have tried scheduled feedings but he finshes his and runs the other cats off, even if i stop him they dont come back. some were abused before we got them so if anything scares them they dont come back and it is the hardest when feeding. (and one cat dosnt get along with the other cats so she just feeds when the rest dont) (scheduled feedings dont work at all in this house). he eats, eats and eats some more then he barfs then he gose back to eating! he dosnt know when to stop! i have an idea on how to let the others feed them selfs but only feed on at surtain times.....but it isnt quite working. so if you have any ideas please let me know!

Thank you to everone that answered. My cat was the one that wasn't peeing and tried to bite my daughter, he was at the vet at the time I wrote the question.

Now...

My cat is walking around the house, letting my daughter pick him up and everything. He is very social now. He must be feeling a lot better.

ive had a bunch of cats and i have never seen one that had claws like the one i just got, they are unreal! they stick out all the time! I never had to trim any of my other cats claws(never even thought about it!) but i feel sorry for this one. They get caught in everything.I would never have a cat declawed! i think thats horrible, but would it be okay to trim them? If so what kind of clippers do i use?

I have two cats. One will go up to the other and start grooming him/her. It will last a couple seconds then will turn into a swat of the paws and then turn into hissing. What's the deal? I thought they were trying to be affectionate? (They both do it)

Our male neutered cat has been peeing where he shouldn't for a while now and he won't quit! We clean it up each time,he likes to go in the corner on our rug by the door so i smells disgusting now and it's just annoying!

We've taken our cat to the vet many times and he's had tests and tons of things done and he's been on meds for it before but he keeps doing it! Sometimes he stops for a while but starts up again.

--We have no other pets besides our dog who he's always gotten along with. He's an indoor cat.

How do we get him to stop and how do we get rid of the smell??NO RUDE ANSWERS

I'm cat sitting for my Dad for the next few weeks. Over all the cat seems fine except I'm noticing the his stools are kind of loose (like toothpaste) and yesterday one had bright red blood in it. Should I be concerned? Should I take the cat to the vet?

Our cat is 17 and hyperthyroid. Now she is going blind. What can I do to help her, make life a little easier for her? We know not to move things around, but she is spotting and pooping in strange places and has been crying. At this point medical intervention is not the point, just quality of life.

We lost her sister/littermate last Christmas, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time with her.

My kitty is sitting on my lap right now, laying on his back. I just rubbed 'his' belly, the cat is out. But I just came across what appear to be little nipples on 'his' tummy. Do boy cats get nips too, or was the guy who gave 'him' to me a moron and 'he' is really a she?

A stray cat has been coming around our house and just the other day got in and had kittens. She had 4 , 2 black , 1 striped and 1 black and white. Well yesterday I kinda noticed the black and white one like near the butt of the mom just laying there. Then this morning my dad woke me up to tell me to go check on the kittens. The black and white one was in the corner by itself just laying there. So we gave him drops of water and tried to put him on a niple and he wouldnt go on it, he would just want to lay there. So I checked on him a few mins ago and he was the corner died. He was really stiff and we tried giving him more water but it didnt work. What I want to know is how it died? I know the mother has fleas and I saw maybe 1 or 2 on the kittens. Can someone tell me a couple of reasons of why it might of died? Dont be mean please.

My 9 year old cat won't drink anything. She hasnt been drinking from her water dish for weeks as far as i know. I keep changing her water and she still won't drink it. Today she walked up to it, looked at it, and walked away. So I got her some milk. my cat LOVES milk. She took one sip, sat down staring at it, then walked away. I'm worried that she isnt drinking anything and its 95 degress out. do you think shes ok?

My cat was neutered and had a microchip. The next day I thought he kept trying to heave up a firball. The vet said his airway had narrowed. His diaphram was ok, virus checks came back negative and he had no foreign bodies in his throat. He nearly died. The vet seemed puzzled as to the cause. She said he may have asthma. I saw a cat on youtube have an asthma attack and it doesn't look the same. He's 11 months. Would asthma suddenly come on like that? Maybe a wasp stung him near his mouth. He was indoors, but wasps can get inside. He's not 100% but is so much better. I think the tablets he's on are steroids and anti inflammatories, which aren't usually give together but were needed to keep him alive. Has anyone heard of a microchip causing problems like this? Can it be removed? I think it's odd that he was ok till the day after neutering and chipping. Could it be a bad reaction to something they gave him? He was so distressed and the treatment was £500. I'll be angry if it's their faul.

she wandered into our life on a -20 degree day in January. As a result, her ears, one lip, the tip of her nose and the tip of her tail suffered from frostbite. She has always chased her tail, and when she catches it she growls and hisses at it, and she draws blood. Once, she gave herself an abcess. I have talked to the vet about it, and I think it is like some phantom limb thing going on. We got her a playmate, and this seems to decrease the behavior. Any other suggestions?

She had some fleas, and someone suggested I do that.
I got way too much soap on her and could not wash it off,
she would not let me give her a bath. It's been three days
now, and she is so matted and looks terrible. She used to come in the house all the time...now only once a day to eat..
and out she goes. And she is not drinking her water from her
cup. Think she is too scared now. She is 12 years old.....
was always so clean, healthy, and fun.
Kindly help me.

I have a siamese cat, and I just had him fixed this year. He has clawed my carpet infront of my back door, and each time he stretches no matter what room he's in while he's in the house he tends to claw at the carpets and sometimes my couch on my back porch. Please tell me what I can do to remendy this. He's mostly an outdoor cat, but I keep him indoor as well. Also I've given him a bath with some flea shampoo, but that didn't help. Anything I can use to help remendy this problem as well?

we recently found a cat in our neighborhood and brought him into our home..it looks like he'S been abused beacuse his ears are missing(cut off), and he also has scatches to his nose and eyes. is this some kind of thing people do to make a fighter cat?...im not really sure why this was done to him..He seems normal like any other cat..sleeps on ur lap, on furniture, eats, purrs, meow, likes catnip...but is this safe for the cat?...the area where his ears should be is all healed up. has anyone else had or seen a cat like this?... it seems like he could get infections easily, but not really sure...its very sad. we hate to see abused animals.
