I don't understand the connection between the two, but I'm glad I get a good heads up before she becomes distressed or gets a secondary infection. The vet gives her a couple of shots for congestion and she is right as rain the next day. It's either allergies or a virus. He says I can expect her to go through this every 3 or 4 months. He says she's looking better than she ever has, she had been sick with parasites and uri's as a kitten. I keep a savings for her frequent flyer vet visits.

Our cat is sick with something unknown. The vets still haven't got the results of the blood test. His left eye is all red with blood. We're supposed to give him pills and force feed him. But he absolutely refuses to let anything get down his throat. He'll spit it back up no matter how far you get it down his throat. He won't drink either. My roommate is in tears, because she's afraid he's gonna die. Every time she tries, she ends up with food everywhere but in the cat's stomach. Holding his mouth shut after putting food in his mouth doesn't work either. Then he just freaks out and won't let anyone near him.

He's about a year old. My roommate already paid a lot of money for the first vet visit and medicine and we can't afford to have him hospitalized. The vets even told us themselves they would charge an insane amount to feed him themselves. We've tried cat and human food. Nothing is working.

Does anyone know of any technique or particular food to try to get food in him? Thanks.

My cat recently had a suspected UTI so my vet had me give her Hills c/d.
I am very particular about what I feed her and was giving her Wellness before this.
It is all she has ever known and though she is not picky, I am and I prefer the natural ingredients of Wellness to the crud I've seen listed in Hills.
I know this particular food is good for cats with urinary problems, and I know it's a prescription diet...so it MUST be good, but is it high quality?

Any suggestions for an alternative high quality natural food for cats with urinary problems?

Thank you

We just had our 2yr.old cat spayed two days ago. We took her to a Valley Cat rescue. Anyways when we went to pick her up the receptionist told us she had an infection and needed antibotics and they were going charge us extra but we didn't have the extra 15 dollars except for antibotics..She didn't mention what kind of infection, and we didn't think to ask since we were occupied we her. Anyways my husband said to call and ask the place cause it didn't make sense she had an infection right after surgery. So we called and she told us she had an infection in her Uterus from being in heat alot b4 being spayed. My question is, Is there such a thing? What causes it? A friend told us that placed like that try to get your money and might try cheat ya outta money and tell ya she has infection. So that just gets us thinking... Just wondering if anyone out there can help us out and tell us if you heard such a thing.I'm just curious..Thankx!!!

He is so sweet and got a lovely temprament! It's just that after stroking him once he's started purring, he then likes to get stuck in to his butt, which can be annoying if your trying to sleep.
Have tried Marmite and English Mustard, but he liked them! Please can anyone help!

I am thinking of moving into a new apartment and I was just wondering if anyone has any idea how high cats can fall from and remain unharmed? He is an indoor cat, but obviously I don't want to live on the 20th floor in case he one day escapes from a window. What floor would be the highest I could live on do you think?

Thanks for your help!

Any Veterinary Professionals out there!! Here is the deal:
2yr old neutered male cat started peeing in 2 certain spots on my carpet a few weeks after I got a new female neutered cat 1yr. I tried everything to get him to stop: Feliway, black pepper, put his food near it, tin foil. So I used this enzyme stuff to take the smell out and injected it into carpet, and then put down tinfoil in case he still smelled it. He peed on the tinfoil. So I have since put him in the basement (it’s like our living room so it’s nice and we’re down there at night with him until we go to bed, he has all his food, litter toys and a feliway plug in, he did not pee down there for weeks but we recently started bringing down the female for about 15 minutes a night, we were always there, this was just to get them used to each other again. This morning he had peed in his cat bed, I mean soaked through to the floor. He is not spraying, he is actually peeing, he still uses his litter box down there this was the first time since he had been in basement that he peed outside box. He is on a antibiotic (for 3 weeks now) currently for a viral upper respiratory inf so if he had a UTI then that would clear it up. What is wrong and how do I get him to stop.

They say that if you drop a cat it will land on it's feet. They also say that if you drop a piece of buttered bread it will land butter side down. What would happen if you tied a piece of buttered bread, butter side up, to a cats back, and then dropped them?

I was going to keep my 4 month old kitten indoors, and train him into a housecat, but I do think its slightly cruel, especially as I have a small place. So how can I let him out in the morning when I go to work, and train him to come home when I get back at 5! He has a fav toy which I can rattle when I get home, to call him but how can I begin to teach him that this noise is his home time? and what if he doesnt come, i'd be gutted if I lost him!

I'd like to know what is the earliest a cat can be neutered. BUT I don't want to know the ideal circumstances, which I know is at 5-7 months old. I need to find the earliest, because I have taken a feral kitten to the vet for an eye problem. The kitten will be operated, but he has lost an eye already. He will go back to being a feral cat, in his neighbourhood where I found him, so we won't have the chance to catch him again, but I don't want him to get into cat fights with one eye. he can't afford to lose another eye. The vet says he can be neutered later, but I am under the impression that in the US you neuter them much earlier!

I have a male cat of about sixteen years of age. For that past few days, as far as I can tell he hasn't eaten very much at all and I cant remember him drinking either. He is constantly licking his lips and occasionaly heaves and meows with what I assume to be discomfort but nothing comes up. He has really been a house cat for the last few years mainly due to his age so shouldn't of eaten anything nasty. The only thing is he was treated with frontline flea treatment about a week ago. If petted he will purr and makes an effort to be sociable so in some ways he is himself. He has always been a thin cat and over the last twelve months become frailer on his feet. I am very worried about him and dont want him to suffer, can anyone offer any sort of (sensible) advice - I know that taking him to the vets is the best option and I would pay whatever it cost to make him comfortable but fear the stress of that would be too much for him as he is a timid creature.
