My wife and I adopted a wonderful cat from a rescue society. His name is Truman and is a wonderful pet. He only sleeps on his back, likes to play in water and is very affectionate. We love him to death!
We've had him for 2 1/2 months now and some problems are starting to arise. Despite using Bitter Apple and Bitter Yuck, he eats the plants. We even used a hot pepper spray and he STILL eats the plants. Not only that, he is digging and eating the dirt the plants are growing in, despite more spray and slices of habanero pepper.
To top it all off, he has started to chew on cords and cables all over the house, the lamp shades, boxes, shoes and anything else he can get his mouth on.
And before you ask, NO, HE IS NOT TEETHING!

This cannot continue. We cannot go around the house every morning and evening unplugging and putting away all electronics, shoes, plants, boxes and everything else.

Any suggestions on what we can do? We love him and do not want to return him to the society!

I say that there should be 300 million cats in the U.S., so that would be on average 1 cat per inhabitant (instead of 1 gun per inhabitant).
I'm sure the crime rate would decrease.

I have two cats who both have litters which are 1 month old. They are still feeding them so I'm not sure whether a dewormer or flea treatment would affect their milk or harm the kittens. Help!

I need to get my cat fixed and we are going to get her de-clawed. How old does she need to be to get fixed? And other than her not having claws can being de-clawed affect her negatively? She is a strictly indoor cat. She is only about 10-12 weeks old.

I treated my cat for fleas with Advantage yesterday, and it's been 24 hours and he's still grooming and biting. it's to a much lesser extent, but he's still doing it. How do I know that the advantage is working or not? How long will it take for him to stop grooming and biting?

While cleaning cages yesterday for a shelter (I volunteer) one little kitten took a chunk out of my thumb.
I have never been bit to this degree! Most cats will scratch and give little warning nips, but that is it!
Anyway, the bite didn't require stitches, but I was told I should go to the Dr for a tetanus shot and antibiotics...is this true?
The cat is up to date on all HER shots.

she was asking for food, so i put down her usual dry food, and poured some oil-packed tuna over it (she ate the food fine yesterday, the oil-packed tuna by itself earlier today, and is never ever a picky eater. she will eat anything, and doesn't mind having water, broth, etc. mixed into her dry food). in the end she refused to eat this. why?

When we shift to new house, cats are all over it. i dont domesticate cats or dogs because of my children. For Cats specially their fur might give my children additional allergy and Dogs might bite them. i dont give food to cats just to drive them away. and not come back but still they stay. One day, this one cat deliver 3 babies. it drives me nuts because of another 3 new cats that someday when they grow up here they will give me another burden to clean their dung beside their moms dung all over the house. because of this dilemma. i took this 3 baby kitten and gave them to someone (i dont know who he is) and tell them to throw it or just be away from us. The Mother cat now is searching for her babies and i am saddened for what i did to her, but thinking of the future of what that 3 kitten will be doing to me makes me feel that it is for our best.

Ok so I got back from a 4 day trip and walk into the house. My brother goes and finds the cat and brings it upstairs. He sets the cat down and it walks off to do whatever it was gonna do. A minute later, we hear the cat crying louder than I've ever heard it cry. So we run over to see what happened and the cat is just laying on the ground with it's mouth open, panting and crying. We couldn't figure out was wrong with it. We checked it's feet, legs, mouth, everything. It was lying on the ground for about 30 seconds until it finally got up slowly and walked away. It's been acting completely normal ever since then, and I have no idea what had happened to it. My only explanation is that it may have chewed on a wire and got shocked from it, but I checked all the wires where it was laying and none of them were exposed and none have bite marks. What the hell happened to this cat?

I have a 12 year old cat who, seemingly overnight, has developed a medium sized, blob-type lump under her skin behind her right shoulder. It felt warm to the touch, and moved pretty freely under the skin.

She went to the vet a week ago for her annual checkup and got some vaccines- however, she has never had an allergic reaction before, so I doubt it is that. The blob moving under her skin doesn't seem to cause her any pain (she doesn't flinch or make any kind of protest to touch) and she is walking normally. She has lost a pound and a half in the past year, and is in general good health. I'm worried, has anyone else experienced this?

My kitty, who is about 10 months old has been going out for a few hours everyday and come back fine.

But lately it's been very hot and he's not used to the heat. He comes back lazy and sleepy and he hs no energy. He seems sick but I don't know why he would be sick.

HELP! Could it be eatting plants or bugs? He does that alot.

Also, his somache is a little tender when we touching. I was petting him and he would meow whenever i would go over that spot.

Please help me, I'm very worried.

I'm trying to quit but both me and my roommate smoke. We don't blow smoke on the cat but I was wondering if second hand smoke is bad for the cat.

I am moving from a place with not so many fleas, to a place where they are freaking everywhere. My cat always stays inside, but I have heard people telling me that she could get fleas from other people's pets in the building that go in and out. I don't want fleas & neither does she! Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good (and not outrageously priced) flea treatment for my kitty.... Thanks!
