I say that there should be 300 million cats in the U.S., so that would be on average 1 cat per inhabitant (instead of 1 gun per inhabitant).
I'm sure the crime rate would decrease.

There are already more cats then can be housed. I am a witness. I have this summer found a pregnent mom cat, who had 4 kittens in my barn. I feed adn care for em', but the mom is very shy.
We also have a male stary cat that we are caring for, that we found last summer. We have a 7year old Calico that we rescued, and one of here (12 kittens) which we gave homes.
NOw she and and kittens (all of them) are fixed.
We also have an inside cat that is 3, who was found in a box by a friend on the side of teh rode. He is fixed declawed and living inside. We are not cat people, but there are soo many cats, that it almost seems neccasary.

It would be nce if each person had cat...but not everyone like cats, there are people an able to keep animals, there are people who don't like cats, there are people alergic to cats, there are people laying in hospital beds unable to care for cats, and with in that count of people, remember there are 2 month old babies, and big familys (like mine, we have 10 people) and we know amish, do you wat amish people to have somewhere between 6-20 cats? Because are AMish friends have 20 people in there family.
Why not do somthing like a total 2 million cats, and tehn it would be homes for all of them.

how old are you ?? seriously ! if we had that many cats a lot of them would probably be some that would die because of no one taking care of them. some people don't like cats like you do some people are allergic and cant have cats! and no one that owns a gun is going to trade it in for a cat so that wouldn't possibly work! and everyone on here needs to stop bragging about how they have 2 cats that's not alot . i have 13 cats and I'm going to have more soon because my cat is pregnant. (i live on a farm)

There is already way too many cats as it is. 3 million cats and kittens are killed each and every year in the U.S. for lack of homes! The world doesn't need any more.

What does cats have to do with guns. And the crime rate.
Guns are not the problem. It is the people.
There is people with guns that have cats.
There are people that do crime that have cats.
And not all crimes are done with guns.
I do not believe in saying this to anyone. Because someone would think they are dumb. But this is the dumbness thing I have heard in a long time.

There actually needs to be fewer. A big part of that number are stray and feral cats that lead miserable lives. I'd argue that there need to be more cat owners.

I have 4 cats and 5 guns. The cats won't defend my home if some criminal comes a knockin.
