We got him when he was about 2 months old, and he is 4 1/2 months old now. He IS an outdoor/indoor cat. He playes outside for about 2-3 hours a day. Ever since we got him, we've been giving him a bath EVERY saturday. The first time, he about killed me, but he had TONS of fleas because I found him in a box and he just didn't smell pretty. Then after that, I bathed him the next week and he LOVED it. He's loved it ever since then. He just sits there and sometimes even purrs while im massaging the soap into him. (We bathe him in a really clean sink). He just enjoys the bath so much.. I put 2 towels in the dryer so they will be nice and warm for him afterwards (and he REALLY looks forward to that part!).

Is it too much though? I heard it dries out the skin and they clean themselves, but I just can't imagine not giving him a bath every week. He is SO soft and smells good all the time. He still licks himself some.

I'm just trying to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong?

Responses?

i've noticed bugs on my cat's neck (probably other places as well, but that was the only place i saw since it's hard to get her to sit still) in the past few days but she doesn't seem to be too bothered by them. she's an indoor cat but we have 2 outdoor cats as well, which also don't seem to be bothered.
ths bugs are black and not too big, but much different than pictures i've seen of fleas and larger.
so, should i be worried? if they aren't fleas.. then what am i supposed to do?
if they aren't fleas, what else could they be? just some random bug that has decided to nest in my cat's fur?
if so, what can i do?

I have seen ads for this machine, which is large and I don't like that about it, but if it is as effective as it claims to be, it would be worth the space it would take up. Does anyone own this expensive litter container and if so, what is your opinion of its operation and cost to buy, vs the overall cost savings?

I have used the Litter Maid unit and after about a year it didn't work anymore (about $179). I now use the Petmate (about $159) which is also electric, not as loud as Litter Maid, but wastes more litter when shoveling into the receptacle (it shoves good litter into it). Both were effective, but required emptying the receptacle and buying more litter; not a fun thing to do, but better than standard litter boxes (about $25).

Any comments would be appreciated.

I already had my one year old female cat, Evie when I got Nala (11 weeks) from the local shelter. It's been 3 days since I got Nala and she's adjusting very well. Evie was a little upset at first but seems to be getting used to the little kitten. At night and when I've been at work, I keep Nala in my bedroom with her own litter and food/water, and let Evie have the rest of the apartment. I have to leave Tuesday at 7am-Thursday Afternoon, is it okay to leave a new kitten of that age alone, should I worry about her eating her food and generally being okay? I hope this doesn't sound too silly, but I'm just hoping someone has some feedback!

-He's about 4 1/2 months old. We got him when he was about 2 months old, I found him in a box with another kitten ontop of a garbage can.
-He runs around the house making "chewbacca" noises, as we like to call it.
-He runs outside when we open the backdoor then shut the screen door and he sits and meows by it until we open it to let him in, then runs off again.
-If you walk in a room past him he will run and wrap his front legs around your legs.
-He will get really comfy on your lap and start to close his eyes then suddenly jumps off.
-When he sleeps with my sister or me, he ONLY purrs when he is on the top bunk.
-In the morning he wakes us up by purring and licking every inch of your face/neck and does that little curling thing with his paws and if you try to cover yourself with a blanket he pushes til he finds a spot to lick.
-He DIGS his head into a spot in you (like an armpit, or your neck) til he gets comfy.
-He will be very vicious and bite you, then start licking you.

I have a female calico cat, about 2 and a half years old, who pees on my bed and carpet. She does this about every two weeks, and i have no idea why. She was a stray and we have had her since November.

Also, how can I get the scent out of my bed and carpet when it has dried?

They seem happy enough, although we've only had them for two days or so. But the tale vibrates, and it's worrying me. Does anyone know why this happens?

Our cats do this unusual thing when sniffing unusual smells. They hold their mouth open and it looks like their breathing through their mouth for a few seconds.

I know it's unusual for cats to breathe through their mouth, so do you think this is what their doing?

My house is 90% tile, and he's strictly an indoor cat.

She han't been social (hiding in the basement) since. Today she has a NASTY-furless-slimy mess on her face. I am a single mom of 2 young kids and can't afford a vet bill for something simple. Does anyone know what it might be or if it is puting my kids in harms way?

I have a male kitten about 5 months old, that I just had neutered
at the Humane Society about 3 1/2 hours ago. When they returned him to me, I noticed small blotches of blood in his carrier (which I assumed was normal). After getting him home, I noticed that he was dripping blood from his scrotum.
It seems to have slowed a bit now, but I'm concerned. My sister had her male cat done last year, and said it's fairly normal for a bit of blood to drip out for the first several hours after the operation, and that it should eventually stop. Should I be concerned?

I'm just sitting there watching an episode of NOVA on PBS last night--and I'm just staring at my wife's 30-pound cat--Persius Leonardo Jones--and a couple of others that we have in the house.

And it got me thinking--as I watch their mannerisms and behavior--are cats people too?

They certainly have a respectible level of intelligence and such. They talk, eat, and sleep.

They play.

Some even have jobs.

So it just makes me wonder about their status as either a "species" of animal, or are they a "race" of people--just like us--but furry?

Mmm...

Anyone know? It's just that they're socute, i wanna pik them up all the time, but the problem is, is tat they're nails are getting quite sharp. Is it okay to start trimming their nails now? Or should we wait until they're older? Plus--should i introduce a litterbox yet? And if not now, then when?

Thanks for any and all help :D
