I have a female calico cat, about 2 and a half years old, who pees on my bed and carpet. She does this about every two weeks, and i have no idea why. She was a stray and we have had her since November.
Also, how can I get the scent out of my bed and carpet when it has dried?

I am only 14 and this is pretty much my cat. She sleeps in my room (with a litter box) at night, and she comes out during the day. She is also spayed, but i think she has had babies before I took her in.

Ask your mom and dad if they will take her to the vet with you and ask them to check for a urinary tract infection. This is one of the main reasons animals will urinate in the house/outside of the litterbox. Good Luck with your kitty!

This is part of an answer I gave to another person with a similar problem, some of it may help you:
If the cat isn't fixed it can cause marking behavior. Also if she wasn't litter box trained and an outdoor cat it can contribute to this problem.
Make sure the litter box is really, really clean. A cat will go in a cleaner place if the one provided isn't clean enough.
Take the cat to the vet if they rule out health problems., then try an extra litter boxes in other locations. You can reduce to a smaller amount of boxes slowly as things go back to normal. Keep at least 2 available.
What has worked best when I have encountered this problem is putting the litter box near the undesirable location and moving it a couple of feet every 2 days to a desirable quiet location. Every time the cat uses the litter box in the right place praise it, give treats. Don't give a treat every time but do praise vary the result. The cat will 'try" more often in hopes that this time will result in a treat. I have cat who would after awhile pretend to pee in the box just for praise or a treat. She of course also used the box when needed after I worked with her. Praise works better for cats than yelling. Yelling or hitting, rubbing the nose in it will make the situation worse. You may also try praising the other cats as well a lead by example scenario if praising the individual cat doesn't help at first. Go buy some Nature's Miracle to treat the areas of the house that have been peed on. Petsmart has it. If you don't use the proper product the cat will keep going back to those areas. I have 6 cats and 13 years of experience. It takes patience and effort but it's reversible. Keep your bedroom door shut in the meantime. If the problem happens while you are away confine the cat to one room like the bathroom with a litter box and water dish until you resolve the problem.

There could be a few reasons for this:
First off you have to change your litter box daily. If you don't the cat will have the scent of the litter box on her paws. Then when she gets on the bed, the scent will be on your bed and she will think it's okay to use you bed as a litter box.
Second, you have to wash your blankets and sheets often so the scent will stay out of your bedding. Most people wash the sheets more often then the blankets. But since your cat is peeing on your bed, you'll have to wash the blankets more often.
Start placing your cat in her litter box more often. She will need training in this since she has been making a habit with peeing on your bed, and the habit will have to be broken.
Don't be harsh with her because this will only make her scared of you and confuse her. You can help brake her habit with kindness, but you will have to follow through with your part also on the washing of the sheets and blankets more often.
Don't forget to clean the litter box daily...that is very important or she will not want to use the litter box. Cats don't like to use a full or stinky litter box, cats are fussy about that.
Hope I have been of help...good luck

Kitty might have a urinary infection and needs to go to the VET for a checkup to rule out any serious problems. Now about the cat urine...Mix in a spray bottle 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water, spray it on the mattress and carpet, heavy and let it dry. If it still smells like urine do it again. Vinegar neutralizes the smell. Then you have to wash the surface with any kind of liquid soap and just a touch of peroxide, just scrub it in to the mattress, let that dry and vacuum off the residue. This will kill the enzymes in the urine, that is what causes the smell because they start to break down and don't go away. After that your mattress should be free from odor. Now ..Have your Mom or Dad take the poor kitty to the vet, she could be in pain not be able to make it to the litter box.

If the cat is healthy (no urinary/bladder problems), I'd try changing to a different kind of litter. Since she was a stray, she wouldn't have been familiar with a litter box, so she may not like the smell/feel of the litter! Something like one of the pine litters, or corn pellets might be more to her liking. I once had a kitten that wouldn't use a litter pan. If I put her in it, she'd jump out and shake her feet, like she hated the feel of the litter. I got some of the corn pelleted litter just for her, and after about 6 months, she decided the regular litter was ok, so I was able to use it again.........just a thought. Good luck.

If it is every two weeks, and regularly at that mark, then I would suspect some type of health situation; perhaps a hormone level rise and fall. Might be related to the fact that she was spayed after having a litter of kittens. In any event, to rule out any medical problem, a vet consultation would be suggested.
Peeing on the bed is a tough one. Enzyme cleaners work but they have to reach every area the urine reached, and with a mattress, it can be difficult to do. Vinegar is also effective, and I have posted a link on how to use it.

the cat could be marking her territory if she feels like someone else is getting more attention then you, she could have a urinary tract infection which is very painful so you need to take her to the vet to rule this out or any other possible illness, she could also just be the type of cat whose litter box must be cleaned after each use or they wont use it. To get rid of the smell you can try odoban, we use that at are clinic or you can try some of the various products sold at the pet store some work some dont and according to our clients one that works for them doesnt always work for the next one so it will be a trial and error process, but you do need to take your cat to a vet

First off, please get kitty a vet check up to rule out any illnesses. A urinary infection is quite painful and if your cat ones of these she's going to associate the pain with the litter box.
Another thing it could be is that she's angry about something. Have you added another pet? New person in the household?
PetZyme from PetSmart is great with cat pee smell and stains. You can buy a gallon jug for only $11.99.

one of my cat's had this habit before, and we found out that she had a urinary tract infection so she was in pain and prefered the comfrot of my bed to the litterl box.
take her to the vet as soon as you can and explain what is happening to your vet.
if there is noting wrong with her physically, or she continues after she's been treated, double-check for anything else that may be stressing her out, like a problem in the area where her literbox is, or a new animal or scent in the house.
get pet enzyme destroying carpet cleaner. pet stores and walmarts will carry it, it works better than just normal carpet cleaner.

i've got had this adventure, too. maximum possibly he's under pressure, or has a sickness. i myself do no longer think of it would be severe in any respect if he's ill. attempt to be very calm around your cat as some get spooked somewhat and start up peeing on the floor! you somewhat would desire to take him to the vet as quickly as a risk, although. do no longer freak out too plenty, he would be ok!!! oh and in case you do no longer opt for him peeing everywhere, keep him in basically one area of the abode, and in case you seize him occurring the floor, immediately carry him to the muddle field. and that i comprehend that some style of ingredients would desire to help this no remember if that's a ailment. get properly cat!
