I treated my cat for fleas with Advantage yesterday, and it's been 24 hours and he's still grooming and biting. it's to a much lesser extent, but he's still doing it. How do I know that the advantage is working or not? How long will it take for him to stop grooming and biting?

it may take a couple of days for you to see any big changes... next month if u havent noticed any major changs, take you cat to the vet for a flea bath b4 u put the advantage on, i can almost 100% guarentee that will work. all 3 vets at work reccommend advantage above all others for cats. so u made a good choice choosing that!

I think advantage starts killing fleas within 12 hours of the flea contacting the cat, it stops fleas laying eggs as soon as the flea contacts the advantage. You could have new fleas jumping on the cat. Bayer corporation makes advantage and they have a 1 800 number for their product, maybe you can look it up sorry i don't have it. They can answer any question you might have, they're very helpful.

Flean comb the cat and look at the fleas. Are they dead??? There might still be live ones if there was a bad infestation and there are fleas in the house. It kills the fleas on the cat at the time within 12 hours, but other fleas jump on the cat and have to bite...then they die. If there was a bad infestation, repeat Advantage in two weeks and then monthly after that.

I have to say that we used Advantage on both our dogs and cats & still had fleas 2 weeks later. I personally won't waste my $$$ on it again. Hope some of you get the results you want!

It may take a day or two. Poppy tapered off by the next day, but if your cat has more fleas it may just take a while longer.

It's been two weeks now since her first treatment and I haven't seen her making any sudden moves in the past week.

Advantage can take up to 3 days to completely get rid of the fleas. You can ask your vet for a capstar while you're waiting for the advantage to work.
