They are very agile and flexible, and can endure a lot more than we can.
A 2nd stroy window isn't that high for a cat to fall...

You can't be sure he is OK.
I've seen two cats who have jumped out of 2nd storey windows in the last 2 weeks - it seems to be the fashion among cats at the moment! The first cat seemed OK but the owner brought him in for a checkover anyway - he had a telescopic fracture in one of his front legs (where the two bones collapse in to each other). The second cat was limping slightly on one back leg - xrays showed his femur was completely snapped in half.
What I'm saying is, cats hide pain and injuries like you would not believe. I would advise a vet check before you sit back and say 'wow, how come he's OK!'

Oddly enough Cats can almost always be fully unhurt by a 2 story high drop where as they can seriously hurt themself in a drop less then three feet. Cat's are able to flip their body to land on their feet and then they are able to brace for the fall because of the way their bones are made.
There are a number of cats that I have seen jump down from the second story, and I've actually seen a cat jump from the third story to the second and right after to second to the floor right down.

One of my cats did the same kind of thing. He wandered out of an open window and couldn't work out how to get back! There was another open window further along.... Anyway, he tried to reverse and fell. I panicked but my husband ran downstairs and found the cat sitting on the lawn, licking himself, like they do when they're acting cool! The only thing damaged was his pride! It's amazing how they twist their bodies and fall on their feet (ever heard that phrase?) That's why they are said to have 9 lives. They get out of death-defying situations with no more than being embarrassed. The thing that damages them most is being laughed at!!!! Very proud and snooty animals! Except when they are having their tummy tickled, that doesn't count apparently!

Yes My cat ( when he was a kitten ) fell out of an upstairs window and I was terrified he was hurt or worse,,, yet when I went to see if he was ok he was sat there dusting himself off, he did not have a scratch on him he was abit shaken but other that that ok. Cats are remarkably resilient remember the saying 'Cats have nine lives' !

Please take your cat for a check up? Please! It may have internal injuries that are not apparent to you or the cat! Hundreds of humans die every week in this country from a bang on the head! They bang their heads, feel absolutely fine and carry on as normal, go to bed and sleep and NEVER wake up again! It could have an internal bleed, however slight, that will eventually cause its demise. Cats do tend to land on their feet and they have loads of tiny bones in them and your little one may have fractured or broken some. Please do the decent thing and take it for a check up. I hope everything turns out ok and if it does, watch the window in future !!! Good luck.

Cats have amazing resilance, they can jump from high places and land on their feet, although I wouldn't test it from any higher as you could cause injury to him. It might still be an idea to have him checked out by a vet incase he did hurt himself and you can't see it.
Hope this helps.

Cats have a really stable body system. As cats fall, they twist their bodies around, and land on their feet. They also have a really flexible skeleton, which allows them to twist like that. My cat also fell, so I know how you feel. :D

You ever hear the term "Cat's have 9 lives?" It refers to their ability to have death defying things happen to them. They are flexible and nimble and clever and quick. A two story window? Ain't got nothing on Wonder Kitty!

That happened to one of my cats once, and she was only a baby. She was fine, though, broke her tail at the end but that was it, she wasn't even bothered by it.
