I have heard of older cats, but the oldest cat I have ever personally seen is our cat, Whitney (aka Kitty Chubs). He will be 18 years old sometime this fall. At one time he weighed 26 pounds, thus the nickname, but is down to basic skin and bones and tips the scales now at only 8 pounds. He's had several health concerns and we thought we were going to lose him a few times, but he still keeps hanging in there.

My sister was just forced to put her cat to sleep and he was twenty three years old. He was run over by a car at the age of twenty and had some bones broken. I thought that would be it for him, but the vet fixed him up and he keep on going.
The last year he had a constant runny nose which I suspect may have been from some cats with feline leukemia virus that my sister took in. I often wonder if he had not been exposed to them and if my sister had been able to afford regular veterinary care and superior food, how long he might have lived. I truly believe he could have gone to thirty.

I had a boy named Leo that lived to be 16 then died of a massive stroke. My vet had a cat that lived to be 21, he was the one that had to put his friend to sleep.
