Pretty much very Saturday afternoon there's a rescue person with some cats over at the Pet Supplies Plus on Port Washington Road just south of Bayshore Shopping Mall. You can check with her, she's familiar with several cat rescue groups in the area and has kittens sometimes. She knows where the fosters are too, I'm pretty sure. Her name is Karen Paulie, check the phone book, she's listed (over on 32nd St. I think, in case there's two Karens in the book).

You can call the Humane Society also, they have cats who aren't out on display and you can find out if there are any younger ones (the adoption price includes all shots and spaying, plus a microchip, so it's a good deal).

And don't forget to sign up for freecycle.com for the Milwaukee area and post that you're looking for a kitten, you will have people around the city reading that and someone can connect you to one. That's at MilwaukeeWIFreecycle@yahoogroups.com

There's also RecycleMilwaukee@yahoogroups.com , it's a bit smaller of a list, but it connects to others in the area and pets have been offered up on it.

All of the cats and kittens at PetSmart stores are actually on display through LOCAL animal shelters. Every Pet Smart has a different animal shelter they work with. (The kittens are not sold by the stores.)

If you have a PetSmart nearby, I would check out the kitties there. The shelter will post what hours they are available and you can talk to them about other options of you don't find one for you there.

I did search on http://www.petfinder.com for shelters in Milwaukee and I got this list:
http://search.petfinder.com/awo/index.cgi
the second place on the list will most likely be what you are looking for, they are called Cat Network and here is a direct link to them:
http://west.petfinder.com/shelters/WI177.html
Also, here is a direct link to the cats/kittens they have available for adoption (they range in age from senior to baby):
http://search.petfinder.com/shelterSearch/shelterSearch.cgi?animal=&breed=&age=&size=&specialNeeds=&declawedPets=&children=&status=&id=&internal=&contact=&name=&shelterid=WI177&sort=&preview=1
hope you find what you are looking for, adoption is a noble thing to do
