My neighbor has a yard full of little well behaved ladies. He is from the Ukrane, and I don't understand a word he says, so I;m interested to know what kind of chickens they are. They are about 6 pounds and are solid black with a red head. What's the breed?.

I have done research on these now but when I went to buy one from my pet store the lady said that they can just be fed on seeds and that they can live 100 years! Should I buy it anyway or go to another store? Where can I buy the nectar they eat because this store only sells seeds

Why is it that when I enter my bird's cage to feed him, clean it, or change his toys, he violently attacks me? What can I do to stop this behavior, other than fight back?

He's as tame as he'll ever be, I hand-fed him and ever since he's been able to bite he attacks my hands with full force even though he always wants to be close to them. In the spring he sings to them...and tries to do "other" things to them. It's wierd. Is it possible that he thinks he's a hand? I know they're territorial and aren't nice to other grossbeaks. I've tried hosing my hands down with bitter apple and he must like the way that stuff tastes or something. Any suggestions?

i have a budgerigar .we brought her since she was about 6 wks. so she knows us especially me as if she is our baby. she's been laying eggs for most of the time. and because there's no male bird we throw the eggs away . and it really breaks my heart as if they are babies. but she lives in the kitchen and goes in and out of her cage. we didn't want anymore birds as we haven't got much time for the hatchings.
