Birds can't sit or lie down, so switching feet is a way of resting muscles. It can also mean they have chilly feet. If a bird is cold it will alternate tucking it's feet up into it's feathers to warm up it's toes.

To rest one foot or to sleep. Most healthy birds will sleep with one foot tucked in it's feathers.

i have 2 parakeets and if they stand on one foot that means that they are healthy and have a lot of energy because if they were sick they wouldn't be able to hold them selves up and balance.
