a cockatiel is the perfect bird for you, i have one myself and they are really cleaver and if it is hand fed it will be easy to train. they are exellent birds to train they sing play games and do tricks they also arnt as fragile. go cockatiels!!

Both are wonderful birds.

Have you tried to handle both birds? How they react to you may be the determining factor.

Both can be taught to do tricks. I would lean toward the lovebird because of the cage. California cages are wonderful, I went to one after going through many "cockatiel cages" that cost less.

Cockatiels are very good companion birds, the lovebirds are pretty but don't really make good pets for interacting with, also they don't speak.

Defo go with the cockatiel try to get a young male bird these tend to be the easiest to tame and are friendlier to people. lovebirds can be vicious at times id avoid as a pet

The cockatiel will stay tame, whereas the lovebird is going to lose that within the next couple years.
