We have a double yellow headed amazon parrot and he will start yelling at the top of his lungs for no reason and it is very annoying? Why?? The moment I get on the phone or start to talk to someone as they enter the room he starts. It is a loud shrilling scream . He is not hungry or injured or anything !! I saw on tv once recently a same bird on a vidio and it did the same thing!! Can someone shed some light on this. Hubby has had him before we married and said he does this all the time. We say STOP and he keeps on and on !! If we cover the cage and say nite nite..he repeats this and says nite nite birdy to himself in a real low voice and stops yelling.

I was cleaning my house and i have a parakiet (dont know how to spell it) bird but i was trying to catch the bird to put him back into his cage and to broom handle went and fell on him, he was in a very schocked mood and something was wrong with his wing, he went very limp and there very small and fragile, now hes up and all huddled in the corner of his cage, is there anything i can do or should i just leave him alone to recover on his own???

I have had my parakeets for barely more than a day, it is our 2nd night together. I bought 2 (Charm+Leaf). I can see that they are getting to be more comfortable around me than they were on the first day. I followed the instructions of earlier advisors, and we are now at a stage where both of them will allow me to gently stroke their front (below their beaks), tails, and feet. However, they don't like it if i touch them with a finger, i'm only allowed to stroke them. If they feel uncomfortable, they won't fly or jump around like the previous day, but just move to a side, and I'll give them their space for a while. What should i do next??? Also, I put a pink cloth over their cage at night, and i don't ever interact with them after the cloth is on, the most i will do is peak at them. Is that good? Does that show them that they have total privacy/its time to rest once the pink cloth is on? any suggestion is appreciated. thanks!

i am fixing to get a quaker parrot, that is about 4 years old, his family has to get rid of him because of allergies. im wondering about a mourning period.. he sounds like a very sweet little guy, from what has been described to me.. but he will be my very first bird, and i dont really know what to expect.. i wonder if hell be sad, or if he will just adjust just fine. i guess every bird is different...

Just a question, if you found a young bird or egg or if a friend gave you one and you had NO OTHER choice but to take it home for the time being, how would you handle the scenario?

A few days ago, my African Gray (male, 7 years old) started to have trouble eating, and I suspect it's a beak problem, because he holds food in his beak in an odd manner.

i have 2 parakeets a male(mo) and a femmale(sky). I have had them together for a long time and they have never had babies befor. She is a lot more active now and is more plump than ushual. She kinda has a line down her stomach where it looks like the feathers have been parted. I do not have a nesting box in their cage, i used to but all they did was chew a hole in the bottom and use it as a perch. Do parakeets have a breeding season? If they do what is it? i live in illinois so it is still cold but is reaching the 40's. I will greatly appreceate your answers

Have a nice day!

In January I found a pigeon almost frozen in the street. I took it home and is doing better. I plan to release it in April/May since it looks sad spending all the time indoors. However, I am not sure how to do it to ensure it survives afterwards. I hear that birds that "smell like human" are rejected or attacked by other birds. Is there a safe way to release it?

I have a blackmasked lovebird and 3 days ago his legs were paralized. Did not chase him around his cage and did not harm him in any way? What caused this? eating normal and bowel movements normal.

My birds like each other, but not that much. When one of my birds eat or drink the other one screams at him. Also when one of them is sleeping the other wakes him/her up.I don't want to seperate them becaause the have someone to play with, but the fight a lot. So should I buy another bird if they continue to fight?
