I was just wondering if parakeets can over eat. All mine do is eat, eat and eat. I didn't know if maybe their should be a limit or doesn't it matter?

I have a princess of wales parrot and a budgie but I can't take care of them any more. Only feed them and cover up the cage at night. Where can I sell my pets? Also want to make sure that I'm selling my parrots to a better place. (I'd rather avoid selling them on the internet cause if I sold it to some dude in Texas or a place far away, that's not gonna work for the birdies cause they go crazy on car rides) Does $180 for a parrot and a free budgie sound like a good price? Can't go any lower than $180. So where can I sell the little guys?

Has anyone ever tried any of these natural log nests, i have one but i think it may be a little bit crowded in there if my female decided to lay eggs in it .I have one of these natural log nests and a plastic nest box ,i have both of them up right now so my female can choose from them ,she is terrified of the plastic one , well not really terrified but she just wont go in it she will just go inside the natural one..She seems to be more interested in the natural one .so my question is could i move the chicks from the natural nest box to the plastic nest box once the chicks are born ?or will she abandon them.? here the pics of the natural nest box.(the birds i have are budgies)

I keep my new budgie in my bedroom. His cage is actually about 2 feet away from my bed. Is this very unhealthy, and does it pose health risks? I keep the cage clean and the seed does not get out and go on the floor. I just feel nervous breathing him in so close. My bedroom is the only room I can keep him in, and the spot near my bed is best, since the other 2 options are near the vent or by a door where his cage can get knocked over.

Link to pic is at the bottom. I photoshopped the pic to show you how he looked when he was sitting, because when I took the pic he had gone back to normal. Do you think it's because I turned the ceiling fan on? I had also just finished trying to get him to 'step up.' Was he scared maybe? And here is my original post:

About 7 minutes ago he started sitting in a weird posture. He's perching completely horizontal. It's hard to explain, but usually, their feet perch, and then from their tail to their head the body is at an angle, and their head is more vertical. Now, his tail and his head are at the same angle. Think of a straight line. That's how he is sitting. What does this mean?

I'm toying with the idea of building an outdoor cage for my Amazon. I found a book on the subject, but it's for smaller birds. I need a bird-safe material that he can't destroy in a second, and perhaps some other ideas.

Before anyone jumps down my throat about the dangers of making your own cage, and advises against it, please, let me tell you that I would not do anything to harm my bird, and am, in fact, going to discuss this with my avian vet at my little guy's next appointment.

I can assure you that he will only be in it when there are people outside, will have plenty of shade, safety, and be under constant supervision. When everyone else is inside he will be brought in with us.

Please, if you have any advice or ideas, let me know, and thank you in advance.

We have a 2 month old baby budgie. We tried to find info on looking after it, and we found most of the answers to our questions except the above one. What age can you let a budgie out for a fly round the living room?

Even a SINGING BIRD will do. Something that is colorful, smart and friendly, but not too loud.

...for no obvious reason, I mean, nobody turns the light on or no loud sound can be heard. Does anyone know why is that? (It's not long singing just couple of seconds and then he probably falls asleep again).

i think my budgie badly injjuried his wing, it's bleeding and since it's the first time something like this is happening i really should take him to the vet-the only prob it'll be the first time and i have no smaller cage his cage is the the one with 3 tiers long, not too high--plus it's really cold outside in the cold alert toronto weather, how should i carry him out and how should i cover the cage-will draft or the intense cold kill him-or is there something i could do at home to stop this without going to the vet....thankx.

Hi,

Have been turned into a bird lover since last year. I am tempted to get a baby grey parrot as pet. Could anyone share any experience or advice?

Thanks.
