No matter how much food is provided, birds will always know their limit and when they're full. You're probably seeing your birds eat all the time because they're energetic. Keep in mind that birds are small and hardy and have very quick metabolisms. They tend to poop every 5 to 20 minutes, so food is always going in and out of their bodies. Also, in nature, birds will go foraging for food whenever they're hungry (this is why meal feeding isn't ideal; they don't eat on set schedules, but when they need it).

No, you cannot overfeed a bird. DO NOT try to limit their food intake. Read the following excerpt from the Tailfeathers website. Link given too, please go there.
The budgies digestive system is designed to supply it with enough energy to fly. That is why budgies need a constant supply of nourishment. Budgies take in their food rapidly; their digestive tract is short and food passes through it in a few hours. If you heard the saying, "Birds Never Stop Eating" that is true. Budgies will starve to death if not given food for 48 hours. Budgies shell the seeds when they eat. Therefore what may look like a container with food might be a container full of shells (husk). Do not be fooled and let your budgie starve. This is a common feeding mistake That is why it is so important to feed your budgie daily. Budgies are also hookbills and crack open their seed to eat, so they do NOT need grit as many people believe they do.

no, birds do not ever eat. they eat out of instinct and know when enough is enough. if your bird has his wings clipped, he may need extra exercese if he is gaining weight. let him out of his cage more often. in the wild, birds fly many miles every day and thus, wild birds arent fat. it may seem like he is eating alot, but you have to take into consideration the amount of food on the bottom of the cage. if i had to guess, its about 25-30 percent of all the food that leaves the dish. birds are messy little guys!
good luck!

Ehh, birds know when to stop. I had a bird, a green cheek conjure, he ate alot. If he has toys in there, for other entertainment, he should be alright. If he is constantly eatting, and constantly drinking water, their may be another problem (dehydration, ect)

No you cant unless you force feed them with your hands, a bird isnt stupid and it will stop eating when it isnt hungry anymore. So give it all you want it wont over eat.

they have a fast metabolism, so need to replenish energy often. Just make sure they are eating healthy food, formulated for thier species.
