Has anyone ever tried any of these natural log nests, i have one but i think it may be a little bit crowded in there if my female decided to lay eggs in it .I have one of these natural log nests and a plastic nest box ,i have both of them up right now so my female can choose from them ,she is terrified of the plastic one , well not really terrified but she just wont go in it she will just go inside the natural one..She seems to be more interested in the natural one .so my question is could i move the chicks from the natural nest box to the plastic nest box once the chicks are born ?or will she abandon them.? here the pics of the natural nest box.(the birds i have are budgies)

I know those dont work, for 1 the parents can not stand up to feed the babies like they need to. There is no room inside of them to stand up or the babies to stand up like they need to to feed. Get rid of them, they only waste life in babies who get abandoned because the parents feel no way to feed them properly. Replace it with a breeder box place the babies who have been abandoned inside of the box, when they cry the parents will go feed them and thank you later with healthy live babies. You have been warned. And quite frankly those should only be used for FINCH. I have many many birds and over 20 yrs expeirence and I learned the hard way a long time ago with those things, please don't risk your baby bird's lives.

Do not change the nest after the babies hatch, that would be a disaster. If the natural nest is not adequate she would not nest in it. Let her decide what is best. If you are still not happy with that get her a larger one, but still let her decide.

This was answered yesterday.

DO NOT MOVE THE CHICKS. If she is afraid of the other nest box, then she will not go there to feed.
