i think my budgie badly injjuried his wing, it's bleeding and since it's the first time something like this is happening i really should take him to the vet-the only prob it'll be the first time and i have no smaller cage his cage is the the one with 3 tiers long, not too high--plus it's really cold outside in the cold alert toronto weather, how should i carry him out and how should i cover the cage-will draft or the intense cold kill him-or is there something i could do at home to stop this without going to the vet....thankx.

Do you have a small cage? Well if you do put it in the cage ( make sure there is nothing sharp in the cage to harm your bird during the trip), cover the cage with a towel ( this will ensure that your bird will feel secure and nothing can scare it) and strap the cage with a seat belt to the back of the car seat.

You can put flour on the wound to stop the bleeding. Also, to get the little guy to the vet you can take a large paper bag (from the grocery store) and poke holes near the top of it and but a blanket/towel in the bottom for warmth. And warm up your car before you bring him out into the cold.

Good Luck!

to take it to the vet you could use a cat carrier or a shoe box make sure you pad the bottom with a warm blanket or something you make also cover the cage with a heavy blanket to keep it warm. I would get him to the vet asap this sound serious. you may call the vet though and see if there is something you can do at home but they are most likely going to need to see what condition he is in to answer that. Good luck i hope your lil birdy feels better

First it is very dangerous for the bird if it is bleeding. You should take it to a vet asap. You can try carrying the bird in a small acrylic fish tank ( the ones they sell for bettas) That's how i carry my quaker parakeet to his vet visits. It has a full top and handle. you can cover it in the car for drafts. Hope everything turns out alright for your pet bird.

do you have a kennel for another animal or know someone who has one. if so put a towel in there for him to lay on and make sure that the car is warm before you take him out. put a blanket over the kennel on the way out there to keep the cold air from getting to him and causeing any more pain with the injury and any other issues that can come up.

bring it in a cage and then the vet will take care of the rest

I would take a shoe box, poke holes in it (of course) and put him in it. Make sure to cover the box so it won't be cold for him. I would take him to the vet A.S.A.P.!!!

You could put him in a paper bag. Punch holes in it. I have done that before in a pinch. Hope that helps.
