I have cockatiels and put a nesting box in their cage. The male will get in, but the female wont.Why?

The female will only chew around the hole, and when I put her in there she fought with the male. Will they mate at all??

Just leave them alone . Dont keep looking in the nest box . The birds go through a phase where the male shows the female the nest and lets her know its safe.

You may see him try to feed her. This is normal.

Give it a few days at least.

Once he feels it is safe he will begin tapping on the sides of the goes from inside and seranading the hen to try to entice her to enter the box. sometimes they will even breed inside the box during the nighttime.
