NEVER set a domesticated captive-raised bird free, EVER unless you seriously want them to die of starvation or being beaten up or eaten by something outside.

If you're not willing to work with him to teach him that people won't hurt him, surrender him to your local humane society and they'll do their best to find a good, willing home for him. If you can find one (it may be unlikely, but look anyway), look for an avian rescue. Rescues that deal specifically with birds can set owners and foster-owners up for birds who do have the time and dedication to teach birds that humans are safe and teach them to learn to enjoy human companionship. If you're in the San Jose, CA area, http://www.mickaboo.com is a wonderful avian rescue.

Parakeets are sturdy pets, at the instant are not too noisy like different small birds, and make extremely of a small mess with their seed besides the undeniable fact that it somewhat is contained in a greater field or by potential of putting a small barrier around the backside of the cage. they could bite in the event that they don't look to be tamed yet and a 5 year previous won't be too chuffed with that as a puppy if it continuously bites. you should tame them your self and then enable her play with them heavily. besides the undeniable fact that for a 12 year previous they could desire to be an rather sturdy puppy for them to shield. I had my own parakeet at 7 and mom helped me hand boost it as a infant, which i wouldnt not propose except you're very knowledgeable approximately birds.

You don let parakeets free!! what ARE you thinking?!! The most probabal reason he is so terrified of humans, is cuz we are so big, and he is so small. Is he around them alot? Do you talk to him? Cuz if you talk to your parakeets, they will get to know you better, and get more used to humans. Also if you handle them alot, or hand feed them even. They will get used to humans after a while. Trust me. I used to own alot of them!! they are fun little critters arnt they?!

a parakeet would probably starve, they can starve in 24 hours, it would still be lonley and terrified anyway. mabye an avariy owner might take him, or a breeder.
