African Grey is by far the easiest small bird to train to talk. I have a Congo that can say many phrases and answer questions. He is a bit aggressive and needs an experienced person. My Tithimy (spelling?)is very gentle and she talks a lot. Both are great pets that make me lol every day.I also have two macaws and a pionus.

Parakeets and cockatiels can talk but the parakeets is not real clear.Cockatiels are a little better but they prefer to whistle. Indian ringnecks are about the size of a robin, they are beautiful and are excellent talkers.I used to own more than one. The first one I had was chester. I never had to teach the others I got because chester taught them.I put his cage next to the new ringneck and he did the rest.Conures talk too,but I personally never liked their screaching, they can be loud for they size.

The smallest bird that can talk is the Budgie/parakeet. They are able to mimic speech. Canaries and finches can only imitate sounds like humming and whistling.
