I had cockatiels for many years, and enjoyed them. A couple were pains in the neck. None of my tiels ever learned to talk, but they certainly were well acclimated to me as their owner, and ejoyed sitting on me and playing with me. They're a classy little bird, relatively inexpensive, with lots and lots of personality. My first cockatiel, Harley, was insanely jealous of my girlfriend (now wife). The first time Jill came to my house. Harley flew over to us, hopped onto Jill's shoulder and bit her on the ear.

I have 2 girl tiels, Nattie's a lutino and Turkish is grey. They have the most unique and sweet personalities and if anything happened to them I would be so devastated!

I guess the coolest thing is the unconditional love, Nattie isn't scared of anything as in her mind and she trusts me completely, its really refreshing.

One thing to be warned of, though, is since I got my first cockatiel, then my second, is that I am now a 'bird person'... I talk to them in pet shops and watch them sometimes when I'm out walking. It's contagious and it doesn't take long to get like that.

Tiels make great pets. ANd I am not just saying that because i breed them. I have 22 teils in my house right now and love every last one of them. THe ones that are hand tamed love to be loved and the ones that are not still like me to sit or stand near the cages and talk to tem. awsome awsome pet.

I have a Tiel. Her name is JoJo and she is the absolute bomb!! She gives me kisses and squawks at me. She is not a talker. But I know her so well that when she chirps or squawks a certain way...I pretty much know what she wants.

AND she loves only ME! lol
