I am not sure what I should do to help them. This is the first time they are laying. Should I interfere and help them, and if so what should I do?

If they are not sitting on the egg then it probably isnt fertilized either. You can probably go ahead and take it out of the cage. You can replace it with a wooden egg. Those can be found at most of the hobby stores and such.

Goodluck!

Hi, nothing to worry about yet. The hen will not earnestly start incubating the egg until the 2nd or 3rd egg is laid. She should lay an egg every other day. Anywhere from 4-8 eggs is normal. the incubation period last 23 days and during this time they should be left alone unless an absolute emergency. Hope this helped :)

Dont worry yet. Many times birds won't start to incubate their eggs until the last egg is laid. Eggs do not develop until they are incubated, this way the chicks will be close to the same size when they hatch.

Lovebirds do not incubate until last egg is laid. The hen has to get her body temp up high enough. DO not worry and be sure mommy has a cuttle-bone and clean water often daily.

Love Birds are difficult to intercourse... they're certainly one of basically some birds the place the coloring does not distinguish male/woman. have you ever taken them to a Vet to verify in the event that they seem to be a mating pair? i'm uncertain to tell you what to seek for once you convey the vent feathers... yup, get them sexed by potential of a Vet - DNA works terrific. it somewhat is extra advantageous to purchase a shown pair or a bonded pair from a great broking. slightly examine up front can avert unhappiness down the line. be attentive to the age of the birds you're buying and whilst the final time that they had a grasp and the style of clutches that they have had complete. it somewhat is terrific to decrease a pair to 3 clutches according to year regardless of if hand-feeding the chicks. once you detect a pair, and with a bit of luck they are going to be a pair, I actual have bought what replaced into marketed as a shown pair to basically have 2 egg laying women. oftentimes this is the male that feeds the female. Copulation will take place in the process the day and final basically seconds. supply a great cage to your pair. i take advantage of 20" x 20" x 24" cages with the nest container on the exterior to offer extra indoors room and it somewhat is extra easy to check the nest container contents. Lovebirds could desire to be paired in my view and by no potential in a colony situation.

they might not know what to do the first time. give it a few days, sometimes young birds are like young parents, dont konw quite what to do, but they generally figure it out!
but don't worry, the egg may not even be fertile, may be why they aren't minding it. that happens too!
