Due to a heart condition and medication I was on in middle school, I wasn't as active as I had wished to be. Now that I've had heart surgery and am off medication, I really want to work on my endurance (which is pretty bad...i do a 12 minute mile on a GOOD day...) . How should I go about improving this? How often, how long, etc. should I run, and for what distance? How much should I increase it every day? I'm open to ANY suggestions!
