you're defeating yourself because you're depressed. It won't change unless you change the way you look at yourself. I know because I've been there. I'm an emotional eater, and everytime I feel bad, I reach for the food. If you are the same, then learn to do something other than reach for food when you feel sad or stressed. Start out slow, go for a short walk when you feel bad, chew on gum instead of fatty foods. And most importantly, learn to accept yourself as you are. Okay, you need to lose 40 pounds, but that isn't all that bad! You're still a great person, extra weight or not.

I too am 40 pounds overweight and feel miserable about my weight. I know how it feels to just binge and ruin your diet and motives. But best thing to do is eat smaller portions 5-6 times a day. Add more fiber into your diet such as whole grains and raw vegetables and fruits. Try exercising 3-5 times a week, even walking at the park will help you feel better...getting the fresh air and moving, it's a great feeling. I know sometimes it's depressing not fitting into the clothes you wish you can fit into or even looking in the mirror, but remember with determination and will power you can lose the weight! Just don't give up sweetie....I know you can do it.

i feel that losing 2-3 lbs. each week is a healthy range. if you are overweight, it is easier the first week when you do it, you will lose more weight that week than any other week.
a plan that worked for me was:
find your daily caloric intake(how many calories you should consume depending on your height and weight)
record everything you eat and how many calories it has in it
if you excersize, record how many calories you burned
at the end of the day, subtract the calories that you ate from your daily caloric intake, and add how many you burned to the difference. for ex: if my daily caloric intake was 1800, and i ate 1500, so i burned 300. then say i burned 250 from excersizing. i would add that to the 300, which gives me 550.
that will tell you how many calories your body burned that day.
you should be aiming for burning 500 calories each day.
also drink a lot of water.
you might not lose as much as you want, but if you stick to it, it will keep working.

Forget calories. Get the wrong food out of your house...If you purchase food on the interior aisles of the grocery store, they are BAD, stick to the outside....greens/fruits/dairy/meats
Don't eat:
Bread of any kind
Soda/crystal light No red meat
No butter/mayo
potatoes (baked/mashed/scalloped, etc.)
No candy/ice cream/chips/pretzels/peanuts
No cooking oil
It takes 7 days to form a habit...21 days to break it.
Work up a sweat/ use 3 lb weights and you will lose 2-4 lbs week. Suck it up for 21 days and on the 22nd day you will be on the downhill side of weight loss.

I understand your pain. There is a diet pill called Phentermine . WILL MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT .There are side affects that should not be taken lightly but in my opinon well worth it.I lost 50 pounds and have kept it off for 3 years.It really helped me get a jump start on the dieting process.It will make you forget food even exsits.Be sure to drink plenty of water and to take vitamins if you decide to take it. Start walking, and drink lots of water.. that is your best bet.. eat lots of raw veggies, and fruits, but don't over do the fruits. they are loaded with natural sugars.. walking does not cost you a thing, and is the best exercise there is, not jogging, it will tear up your feet, ankles and knees, just a fast paced walk every day, for at least 20 to 30 min. a day, and then work up to at least an hour a day.. and drink plenty of water.. to flush out all the bad stuff out of your system.. good luck !!

Go on the all you can eat fresh vegatables and water diet. Make friends with some one with more garden than they need. Help work it. Free veggies and free exercise, plus a nice tan. Stay focused on how amazing it is going to be. Also eat as many apples as you can choke down. I bet you will be hot by thanksgiving. good luck.

Don't eat food rich in carbs.drink more fruit juices.try to establish a diet program for yourself .Dont' eat if its not necessary like snacks etc.eat more proteins and hang out in the gym 3 times a week. start with the treadmill for 10 mins. and gradually move on to 20mins.
my friends say its effective if you don't eat anything after 6p.m. no midnight snacks.no pizzas.just drink water.
