No, running on the spot isn't the same as going for a run because you don't excercise as best as what you would when you go for a run. There isn't as much pressure or hard work when running on the spot. Running on the spot however does still give a great excercise!

No, spot running only really works thighs bum and arms. you are not pushing against anything just lifting your legs up.

Not half as good, no benifit of momentum/goal reaching.

No it is not the same. running in place you are not going anywhere. Going for a run you are actually going somewhere. Spot running you are staying in one spot. I got my answer from common sense.
