I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year and so I went out and bought everything, including fresh sweet potatoes, only to learn that my mother has ALWAYS made her sweet potato casserole with canned sweet potatoes. No one wants something different and every recipe I find on the web that has marshmallows on top also calls for canned. So does any one have an old fashioned recipe that calls for fresh and includes the marshmallows on top???

Ugh- If I roast them, I can't get the inner membrane off. If I boil them, same thing. I've taken peeling the outer shell before boiling, but that's so time confusing. What am I doing wrong?

I have a recipe calling for rice flour, but live in a very small town in which the grocery store doesn't carry specialty items. I have regular all-purpose flour and was wondering if I could use this instead.

I have marzipan and I'm making small fruits and cut outs for Thanksgiving. I'm using a gel food dye. This is my first time playing with marzipan, and I was wondering, everytime I eat them at weddings and such, they have a sugar coating. How do I get this? I've messed around, but it's not working/looking nice. Any tips? I'm in the process right now as I talk, so any quick answers would be well appreciated!

Thanks to all

My Husband and I are newlyweds, and he doesn't like ANY kind of pie! He and I are going to my family's Thanksgiving at my Great-Grandfathers house. I have already agreed to make two pumpkin pies and a pecan pie, but I would also like to make some kind of dessert that my husband will enjoy too.

Also, it has to be pretty simple, as I will already be pretty busy baking pies tomorrow, and don't want to stress myself out.

Thanks for all your answers! Happy Thanksgiving!
