We always make pumpkin bread and have assorted veggies and simple fixin's to snack on before dinner is served. We also usually set out a bowl of M&Ms also, while we play games and chat.

Enjoy your holidays!

My mom always used to set out a bowl of veggies with some dip...like carrots, celery, pickles, and olives. Then we would get to snack on them. Also some crackers and cheese I think would be a good idea. Keeps the kids entertained and everybody else as well.

This is probably a cop-out, but it's become a tradition in our family: I get take-out at a local Chinese restaurant around noon and everyone has a light lunch, then dinner is served around 6:00. I just find that when I'm putting together a major dinner in my not-so-huge kitchen, with lots of the ingredients crowding my not-so-huge refrigerator, the Chinese takeout is a lifesaver: I don't have to cook it, I don't have to store it, clean-up is minimal, and everyone seems to like it.

Here is a recipe for a really easy and tasty artichoke dip.
2 cans artichokes cut into chunks
3/4 cups of Parmesan cheese
3/4 cups of mayo

Mix together, and place in baking dish
Bake at 350 for 40 min.

This is one of our family favorites. We also have cheeses and nuts, veggie platters, and other chips and dip.

my family goes through 2 or 3 ice cream pails full of homemade Chex Mix every thanksgiving. Its a tasty treat and the leftovers (if there are any) are easy to send home with people.

We like raspberry chipotle sauce poured over room temperature Brie cheese - serve with crackers or little toasts. Looks fancy - takes 2 minutes.
