WOW! I'm suprised that no one gave the original recipe.
2 slices of fluffy american white bread
2 slices of american cheese
Butter
Butter the outside of each slice of bread. Place the cheese inside the bread sandwich and place it in a lightly greased frying pan. Heat at medium heat until crisp and golden brown, flip to grill the opposite side of the sandwich.
This goes great with a cup of creamy tomato soup!

The easiest way is to pop 2 slices of bread in the toaster & butter as soon as they come out. Place 3 slices of cheese in between & microwave for 25 seconds. Yum!

butter the bread and brown it in the pan
put cheese on the bread and let it melt
don't use too much butter or it will be greasy
you could also use a george forman grill less cleanup

I use white bread with 2 slices of Kraft American cheese, no low-fat cheese. I spray the outsides of the bread with garlic spray and toss in a skillet until both sides are brownish.

And it's really good dipped in wasabi mayo!

2 slices of bread - buttered on one side.
Cheddar slices.

Place one piece of bread (butter side DOWN) in skillet, put the cheese on the bread and top with the other piece of bread (butter side UP) and fry till golden brown and melted. Then I top it with GOOD homemade apple butter.
