My father's youngest sister at 54 y.o. becomes abrasive when she disagrees w/ ppl & she prefers to control situations instead of compromise w/ rest of family. It's getting hard for me to ignore her behavior.

They haven't been together for 7 years (the daughter is 8). She is majorly rude to my boyfriend and has control of everything since she has full custody. When my boyfriend gets visitation, she tells him what time to have the daughter home by, we bought clothes for the daughter, and have never seen them since. What do I do? I have been avoiding her until now, and just wondering when I do have to interact with her, what do I do? I have no respect for this woman and want nothing to do with her at all. Can I just have a relationship with the daughter without the mother being involved in my life?

I used to live in Bell Gardens, California all my life but, everything and everything has changed.

Sometimes, I feel so alone in this world without my father to guide me. My father died in October 1993, and I miss him very much!

He was the only person that I went to when, I needed some advice on everything. I did not realize how much he took upon his shoulders (family, personal problems, finances, etc.)

What would you do in my situation?

She just got a cell phone and I am jealous. She is a sophomore and just turned 16. I'm a frshman but just turned 14 so if I get a cell phone, it will be in my junior year. She gets everything first! I'm the middle so I get things second and my brother gets most attention. Not to mention that my sister ges to about 50 White Sox games in the summer because her rich friend bought her season tickets. And she gets straight A's and went to state as a freshman in track. I'm just jealous and want to get over it. How? She calls from her room to the downstairs and is with her phone 24/7. OK, she sleeps with it too! It's ridiculous! I have to wait 2 more years for everything!

I'm disabled, legally blind and because of my limitations live with my mother and her husband. He has been sexually molesting me for the past year. I finally told my mom but to my surprise she's choosing to behave as though nothings wrong. Hubby still lives in the same house with me. I have no where to go. What should I do? I feel mom's betrayed me by continuing to treat hubby like a prince even after what he's done. I'm frightened, disappointed and depressed. I'm not old enough for senior services, my pastor is not educated in family counsel and SSD does not afford me enough to rent my self an apartment. I stay in my room when he's home, but the sound of his voice makes my skin crawl. I know that biblically I should forgive him, but I can't. I'm having trouble with my mom's apparent lack of loyalty to me.. her husband is "addicted to porno" and uses that as his excuse for creeping into my room at night. Opinions? Please only mature, thoughtful answers ... this is painful

From 3-5:30ish? She is 11 years old and her school is in our block. She has her own cell phone so she can call for emergencies. She told me she is ready.

My mom takes care of her (since she was a baby) but she keeps having trouble w/my daughter and my little sister (2 years younger than her). I'm getting tired of my daughter calling me crying that they are picking at her or my mom calling me at work to piss me off w/her complaints.

I am 18, and I would move out, but there is no way i can afford college simultaneously, so i live with my parents and sister. They toss stuff in the garbage until it is overflowing without at least changing out the bag, leave dirty dishes out and open containers of food all over the house. In the laundry room they spill detergent everywhere and normally dump clothes on the floor instead of the hampers or doing a load. My mom refuses to smoke outside, so everything smells like smoke. I am cleaning all of the time because I am embarrassed and don't like people see this so they can judge us. Clutter is everywhere because they have bought every stupid product under the sun, and she just leaves it around. I spend at least 70% of my free time cleaning not just my room/bathroom, but the rest of the house. No one else will do it. :/ What can I do?

When my husband and I got married he had two sons a 12yr old and a 14 yr old. He has joint custody of his sons. Right before we got married he lived about 15 mins from them. We have now recently moved. And it has caused some problems because we live an hour away.. The children seem to be very resentful and they are starting to tell their Father that they don't want to come when it's his time to get them. He was also considering fighting for custody which I thought would be a bad idea , since they are already stating that they don't want to be here. Can some one give me some advice on how it should be handled. has anyone else gone through this with children who don't want to spend time with them? How would you handle it if you have joint custody?

Yesterday i came home from school and my dad says to me:'sorry amy but i read your diary' so of course i am gonna be upset and to make things worse when i ask why he says it was just there and it should have been hidden (it was in my bedroom)but i think a bedroom is a private place so its okay to put things around ,right?

so then i find out my 17 yr old brother has read it too and is repeating all the private, rude and most personal things out so i have a right to be angry don't i?

well anyways my dad says to me:'amy, stop manipulating me with your moody ways' and i am like WHAT?

after all i didn't ask for anyone to read my diary !

I've left my husband because for almost six years he's been verbally abusive towards me infront of my child because, I allow my ex to come into our home when he's picking up his daughter. He also gets angry because when I have a party for my daughter, I let my little girls dad and family attend. he says it's not right i let my little girls family come to our home because by doing that I'm disrespecting him. He wants me to take my little girl outside the house if her dad wants to see her and hates it when he calls or any member of my ex's family calls to find out how she is. I don't want my little girl growing up knowing i've allowed my husband to brake the bond she has with her rael dad. Is he right in doing this?

i'm not sure how i should be feeling about this, so i'd appreciate any input. i'm in my mid 30's and my biological father has never been a part of my life. he and my mother divorced when i was a baby and he gave up visitation rights when i was 5. every ten years or so i'd get a phone call, he wanted something from me. about 4 years ago he called and i finally let out over 25 years of pent up anger and let him have it. now i found out he's dying and has a month to live. as soon as i find out where he is, i plan to go see him, not for him, but i feel it's something that i need to do for me. my question is this: how am i supposed to feel considering what i've written? i don't love him, i don't even know him, but a small part of me is sad and that's confusing the heck out of me. i'm not having the response i thought i'd have. thought?

My wife does not like many of her brothers and sisters. But she still gets together with them on Holidays and family activities. She has a cold and strange family. Talking to them about their differences does not do any good.

We dread these family get togethers. No one has any interest in us and what we have to say. The conversation is forced, boring and cruel. I ask my wife why we must see these people so much and she replies, because they are my family.

Would you get together with your family members if you did not like them?

...do you feel is just?
The kid who was beat up was just fine later that day, attending a party even - so he obviously wasn't hurt.
Should your child go to PRISON for 100 years? 22 even? Would you call that "attempted murder"?
What's appropriate?
For those of you who know what I'm referring to, please have the decency to leave race out of it - that's not what I'm asking. I want to know what you think is appropriate punishment if YOUR child engaged in a fight with someone, ANYONE.

my bro is 14 yrs. i'm 21, married, live in germany, just have my own life. i don't know what going on with him. my mom asked me to talk to him, because they had got into an argument because she deleted his "devil music" i'll admit i got him listening to rock, but not "hardcore". he shown me what he listens to and it's extreme. i tried telling her it was just a phase, he'll act rebellious, what not. i did, but i got over that. i lived with my dad though. then she told me he got a razor, started cutting himself, saying the devil made him do it. my mom sometimes tries to force religion on him and i don't think she should. yesterday she told me he was making suicidal comments at school. they took him to the hospital, from what he told the doctor, he was considered at "high risk" and was admitted into a "hospital" for a couple days. i don't know if its all an act or he really isn't ok, because he doesn't want my dad to find out. would you blame the music, it is something mental or what? :(
