Family - August 2007

My little Sister is out camping and doesnt know yet. She is a fragile person, whats a good way to break this news to her? I am headed up to get her. Stupid question i know but im still in shock and finding it hard to think straight.

My daughter recently she got herself into some major trouble with the law, and we are helping her out. When we first told her we would help she said, I know I messed up. I know I need to change. Now its I am confused. I want to go back to where I have friends and connection (she wants to be a music producer/artist). I have tried to explain to her, that she can still do that, but you must find a job to be able to take care of yourself. She can be in the "studio" all night if she wants to, but she must finance her dream. How will you eat? How will you survive? Surely not by living off of me, and your friends will only deal with you for so long. We have always been supportive of our children no matter what, only providing the basics until we see they are really serious a hobby,sport, etc. I feel like how many times can I let her slap me in the face. Is it wrong for me to cut all ties if she choses to go back to her friends/environment, who I believe are the reason for her troubles.

My dad left my mom one year ago. He always was mad couldnt take the blame for anything he used to complain to get a free meal. He tried to kill our family by taking us to get mcdonalds almost every meal even though he is a doctor and makes a lot of money he always said he had no money so he wouldnt get us anything nice. He never held the door for my mom very ungentlemanly. Never gave my mom anything good for there anervirsery. Caused my brother to have a jacked up leg by using physical action with him. Lifted my sister up by her ears!!!! used to get mad at stuff thats not even good enough to get mad at used to never let us play he would never let me do anything fun.

My dog/bestest friend died several years ago, (we have gotten other dogs since then) but I worry i will forget what she was like. She was a really good springer spaniel, she was soooo great. I miss her, how do i remember her????

ok so my mom has cancer and shes been taking keymo for awhile now.we live in miami but currenly im in orlando on vacaion. she called me yesteday and said that all her hair fell off. now my mom always had the prettiest hair in the family. im coming home to see her today and i have mixed emotions about what im going to think. do you think its ok to have wierd feelings about ur mom being bald? im a senior in high school.

of my 15 year old niece who is currently in another foster home along with her two other sisters? I am her mother’s identical twin sister, or Aunt, and the foster mother doesn’t like my neice, so she complains about her to the social workers so that they will remove her from the home. However, by doing so, they will be tearing her away from her sisters whom she loves very much. She is a good kid, a victim of abuse at the hands of grandparents, and I want to intervene before this really messes the poor kid up. Any suggestions?

One of my close friends has been going through some "regression" since someone close to him passed away. We've been friends for years and according to him and our friends, i was always the girl that "opened him up" - he felt comfortable w. me and could easily tell me things compared to other people where they would question him about things. He's a "shy" type with girls and keeps to himself with his own personal matters but open and outgoing with others.

Since we've met he's always adored/respected me. Earlier this year, i realized i felt the same way and he did, so we kinda "got together" (kisses/cuddles) and I was his first kiss (we're in our 20's). But after this, we decided not to rush and become friends. About a month later, he lost his friend and everything went downhill with out relatiionship.

The whole time i was just concerned about my friend and how he was doing; i didn't want anything else but for him to be okay and for us to be good friends again. Instead, he's been avoiding me the most - avoiding all his friends and only talking to "certain people" and i'm not included. He has no "problems" anymore, and he's back to this insecure, quiet guy who comes off as an a s s h o l e. The random times when we would talk now and then, he would be NORMAL but everytime he gets closer to me, he comes different - he's NORMAL with everyone else but with me, it's like i'm the plague and he wants to avoid getting sick...


Why doesn't he wanna get close again?

ok, i am 13, and my dads birthday is tomorrow.. everyone makes a huge deal about his birthday and my mom is planning a big dinner, and her birthday is on the 15th (about 4 days) and she told me that she feels bad and that she feels she is secondary.. everyone comes for my dad says OH! HEY GARY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!, oh here is your gift liz. i love my mom so much and want to figure out how i could make her feel specail.. today at my dads work (paris hotel director of all operations) everyone came with a cake and presents, i dont find it fair bc my mom gets ignored.. my dad still does not know what to do for her birthday and she has been planing his for... like a week or two. i want to make her feel specail and make her a cake, and i am knitting her a scarf... but i still dont think it is enough. please help i feel so bad and i want her to know how much i love her. she is the best and my dad is too, but i think he could share the love with her..

I have court on tuesday, and need to know what to do, i just found out i failed a urine screening..?
And i have been the primary parent since my children were born, their father left for 4 years, and came back with what id call "Balls", to try to get SOLE custody...
We had our first court date, in which the judge was informed that he called CPS on me, but CPS did not even open a case. He told them im addicted to prescription medication, in which i do take due to being hit 2 x's in 7 months by drunk drivers , left me with 3 herniated disks in my neck, pretty painful, but manageable. My dr. gave CPS a letter explaining the medications, and i was issued two drug tests, hair and urine both times, 1st one i failed because they did not ask me if i was on ANY medication at all, so they all came up, after we established what i been taking, my second test , both in hair , and in urine, were clean?
And the weirdest part , , , , i had been coming up for Meth amphedimine?
Which when my ex said he wants me to get tested again, IN COURT, it came up again.. AND IM SO SCARED.
what can i do???

Part of me understands the rationale: "They're going to drink anyway so they might as well be safe at home, with supervision, and we'll have everyone's keys, etc." But at the same time, I don't think a parent should be condoning underage drinking, especially with teenage alcoholism being the problem that it is today. What do you think?

I am 19 yrs old and I have a really harsh living condition! My parents have always compared me and my sister, she messed up before me and now they take it out on me always saying ( don't be like ur sister) well my sister was licky and got out at 18 to go to school. I have decided to go to the local community college to save money. My dad is always getting on me about things.. and sometimes he looses his temper a little too much.. i guess u'd say I am afraid of him. It seems like all my mom and dad do is put me down.. and tell me i am going to fail.. I want to move out of the house in with a friend it is cheap living and I have a real good job a car and i paay for all my classes .. but i don't know how to break it to my strict parents.. any help?

I am a 17/ year old male, with, i think a drinking problem. Everynight after work I feel like I "need" a beer. I will tell myself that I don't and I will budge and get on or three or five. If it isn't beer it is hard alcohol like vodka or rum. I drink until I get smashed. My dad keeps on asking where his alcohol is going and I have to lie and I feel horrible and guilty. I hate being sober because then I have to think about my problems. Am I an alcoholic?

my dad cheated on my mom for his girl friend that he got with before my mom and dad got divorced.the girl (his gf nicole)keep getting my dad's attention off me and my sis.he doesn't call or even send gift's to us.he acts like we don't exist, and my mom gets the tough job.he doesn't even think about spending time with us when he is in town,he'd rather go party with friends

i hate my mom. she always mkes me visit her on the weekends. i hav cheerleading tryouts on monday i just found out about. i refused to go 2 her house after a fighting her over it. now she wants 2 pick me up after tryouts. i said no but she is going 2 b there &try 2 pick me up. i just want her 2 freaking leave me alone!! i live with my dad and she keeps trying 2 guilt trip me & i hate it! i dont have 2 go if i dont want to. my dad is alwayz late 2 pick me up after cheer practice(i was a cheerleader last year 2. they just make us try out again) so my ma will b there on time & try 2 force me to come w/ her. itz happened b4 after skool. wut do i say wen i c her & she trys 2 take me w/ her?

Ever since my mom was diagnosed with Celiac's Disease (it's a gluten allergy, gluten is found in wheat, rye, barely, oats) she has been on an even bigger health crusade than before. She keeps trying to diagnose me with all these different diseases or disorders and blames the problem on my past diet but I basically eat what she does now,( which are veggies, fruits, and meat) and it hasn't changed my personality like she thought so she is still trying to label me so she can find out why we don't get along, when I think it is just because we are both neurotic and stubborn but she won't stop and it's really upsetting our whole family, what's wrong with my mom

K so i was just married a little over a month ago. anyways my cousin who was i thought my maid of honor is who im mad at. K so 2 weeks before the wedding. me and her had it out. anyway she lives in az and i live in ca. i told her not to brother driving out with my mom from az to ca a week before the wedding unless she could get over our fight and move on. so anyways she came out early with my mom and when she was here she was litterally on the phone with her husband for 8-10 hours a day for 5 days and when my big day came she walked around telling everyone that she dosent think that she should of came for the wedding and the only reason that she stayed is because of my new husband. so she just receiently started sending me stupid junk emails this week . so today i replyed to one of them saying "CAYLA PLEASE TAKE ME OFF YOUR E-MAIL LIST" and she wrote back saying
what does this mean' and i said exactly what it says" am i just being a ***** or do i have the right to be a *****?

My brother is staying in my apartment until his condo is done. Has anybody watched You Me and Dupree? Well he's the Dupree in my life. He sleeps on the couch in the living room, but still chooses to wear nothing but boxers to sleep with NO BLANKET! Sometimes his crack shows, and makes it hard to eat breakfast. He does nothing but watch T.V. and eat and also drink out of the carton or bottle. He hogs the phone, T.V., computer and shower. He doesn't clean after himself, he invites his friends over without me knowing. He's my older brother, but he's acting like a little kid. He criticizes me and picks on me about the most immature things, then we fight just like when we were younger. The only time he acts like a big brother is when I bring home guys then he scares them away. Any suggestions how to deal with my brother?

My sister in law and brother in law were trying to adopt a new born baby girl and for some reason the adoption fell thru about a week ago and they lost the baby girl. since this happened she will not talk to me or return our phone calls or text messages and we were behind them 100% even though we always didnt tell them that. I need to know what do i need to do as she was one person out of my husbands family i could truly trust and him and my hubby were super close and we are at a loss cause we miss the communication as we talked daily for hours and now nothing? please help me answer this and god bless each and everyone that answers...

The question is not about my grades, because I'm an A student. It's not about money, because I offered to pay for the expenses since I sold two of my laptops. The problem isn't my dad, it's my mom. She says I don't do anything around the house. i told her that she doesn't take notice of what I do. I am extremely busy with my career. I ma an actor and in between school, homework, acting homework and acting class, I can barely even find time to eat and sleep. let alone clean and do chores. I am so busy at times I eat late. What do i do? I need a break. I need to go to the concert.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE NEW "ENTITLEMENT GENERATION" ?(term for teens & youth of today)

I have many teenage realatives--and it sickens me to see all these young teenagers lavished by their parents with brand new cars, i-pods, cell phones, and everything else. Parents foot the bill for everything, and these kids act like money grows on trees.

Why do parents today think that "Parenting" means being a "friend" and giving kids all these material things they havent worked 1 day for? Kids probably think they should be "paid" just for getting dressed in the morning.
Thats not how the real world is!

my sibling and I are both in our twenties and very close in age. When we are away from eachother, we are like best friends, but once we are under the same roof, it is a different story. Somehow we always end up competiting with eachother, or thinking the other one is jealous. I have really tried lately to be more open (less sneaky about what I am doing: diet, exercise, makeup etc.) The result have been 1) either she copies what I do in secret (just trust me I know) 2) she thinks some how, I am just showing off and have something up my sleve, 4) she thinks that I am some how copying her. I am thinking about confronting her, but I think she will just deny it, or spin it around on me. Any advice?

I have 2 boys ages 3 & 6. I love them with all my heart but they drive me absoultly crazy on a daily basis. My 6 year old is so mean. He hits his brother and tells him to do bad things. He dosen't listen to a word I say. My 3 year old is begining to act the same way. Some days I dont even want to come home. I feel so bad. I try to tell myself "OK, we are going to have a good day" then 5 minutes later I am screaming and yelling, the kids are bouncing off the walls and I just want to lock myself in a quiet room by myself. Most of the time I blame myself thinking it's something I am doing wrong. I am just so frustrated and I am so sick of being mean. We NEVER have a good time together. Is it me? Or them? What can I do to my my house a plesant place??? HELP!!!
