They aren't racist...check your dictionary...that would mean they think their race is superior. They come from the old school way of thinking. They think that if you date a blck guy you will be "different." They think that you have cultural differences that will keep the relationship from being happy. I don't know how old you are, but you should not defy your parents without first calmly stating your ideas. And then, you should date people who you like...not based on race. Sometimes I have seen girls date only black guys out of defiance.

I dated a black girl for several yrs...(I'm white) We had problems form both of our families. It wasn't that they were racists, it was that they were concerned parents. The biggest concern that came out was how hard society is on mixed race couples. Other than that everyone was pretty cool.

Anyone that is proud of their heritage, would naturally what their child to mate with someone from the same background.

With the little info provided, it would be hard for anyone here on Y/A to make that call!

some parents are funny about that. I don't think they are racist. I think maybe it has something to do with tradition. Are your parents of the same race? Grandparents? They may just want to have that tradition live on. Silly it may seem but totally sane to your parents and anyone else that only wants thier kid to date a same race kid. Just looking at your family history may gove you a better insight!

They're just trying to protect you from interracial situations that might bring more stress into your life. Going against your parents shows a sign of disrespect. Believe it or not, your parents do know what they are talking about. Experience is great wisdom. Don't shut their advice out. You will most likely be sorry later in your life.

yes and no ...its ok to have different races as friends but not as family .. now some people might say thats racist but it could be part of your parents culture and nothing to do with hate ... its a bit like catholics only marrying other catholic's (use to be that way ) for example so don't be to hard on them ... and goodonya for marrying whom you want ... after all love is grand but is also blind ! so race don't matter

There are a lot reasons to not date out of your race. No it's not racist. But there is a lot of scrutiny surrounded it, and of course having children. It's a complicated situation, but I wont let my kids date out of their race either.

they dont sound racist , and i wouldnt accuse them of anything till u talked to them and found out their reasoning behind what they said. If they have friends of different races then i wouldnt say that is a racist . just ask them and if u have fallen in love with some one other than your supposed race , u need to tell them and gently remind them that god made all of us and we are models in his own image and see what they say...

I don't think racist. Just a preference. Break the barrier and date who ever you want to.

I read your other questions so I know that the poor grammar in this one is phoney. Date who you want.

i find racism is more prominet in older generations, are they racist probly not, not much different than jewish parents pressuring their kids into jewish marriage, the more generations we have the more racism is being smoothed out
